Okay I know I've lost over 75#s the past few years. I'm 257#s and every time I tell someone I want to lose another 40-50#s they say there wont be anything left of me. This has happened just twice in the past few days. Our best friends asked me yesterday how much I weight because there wouldnt be anything left. I told them my first goal is 220. They said I wouldnt look good less than that because I look so good now. Yes thanks for the compliments but I dont think they see my thights that weight about 50#s each.

People get use to you a certain way, and its hard for them to imagine you any other way. They're not trying to be unsupportive...forgive them, for they know not what they do. And, depending on what part of the world/country/culture you are in, some folks just think people, especially women, should be a little on the big side. Which, if that's their preference for themselves, fine. They just need to stop pushing it on you. When you reach your goal and stay there for a while, believe me, their eyes will adjust.

My advice...try to keep them out of the loop as much as possible. When they ask how much more you want to lose, just say...oh, I'm just trying to eat healthy and exercise. Which is completely the truth.

I sometimes get that too. It bugs me. I think it's because so many people were used to seeing me so much heavier so it's hard for them to imagine me as skinnier. I'm 189 right now and want to lose another 40ish pounds and I get those comments all the time.

Sometimes your success will put your friends and family out of their comfort zone. They may have fears that they don't verbalize, or may not even recognize on a conscious level. Don't let them deter you. You'll know when you've reached your goal...rather it be 220 or 185 or some other number.

You are doing fabulous...keep it up until you feel you are at your goal!

:flowerforyou: Don't listen to the dream stealers........your friends on MFP will support your dreams and your goals and cheer you on.......don't tell people how much more weight you want to lose just say something vague like "I love feeling fit and healthy"

Thank you, thats what it is I bet. It bothers me because I know I'm still fat, I feel like they dont want me to get smaller. My friends are a married couple that are both very fit. It just blows me away.
Yes this couple has never known me thinner so maybe, they are just giving me a backwards compliment. I know where I need to be and thats where I'm going.
