Hit my monthly goal with 10 days to spare. Still, I should adjust up to 150, but I'll play it by ear as I'm way behind on my cycling goal.

    5/2 - 2 miles
    5/3 - 26.2 miles (3:44 total time, 8:33 pace)
    5/7 - 6 miles
    5/9 - 4 miles
    5/10 - 12 miles
    5/12 - 4 miles
    5/13 - 5 miles
    5/14 - 4 miles
    5/15 - 3 miles
    5/16 - 5 miles
    5/18 - 12 miles
    5/19 - 7.3 miles
    5/20 - 3.5 miles
    5/21 - 8 miles

    Total: 102 miles
    Goal: 100 miles
    Remaining: Done

So, I went out & made myself have a sick run last night, because my poor Lola was going batty with no exercise for days. Fetch from the couch only goes so far in a Shepherd puppy's world! Once I got past the first mile, it wasn't so bad. I feel much better today!
@SonicDeathMonkey80 & @kristinegift Thanks for the encouraging words, I am willing to work hard & put in miles, I just needed to know if I was being way unrealistic. Now I feel comfortable setting that goal. So we'll see what I have to say May 2016!
@Noshesnomore Welcome, you're going to love the motivation & chuckles, and most of all the great advice the kind and experienced runners in this group are willing to give. Plus, you still have 10 days in May left, surely you can post a 10 day goal?

I ran two easy and slow miles yesterday and my right lower leg is still not feeling great. I am just going to keep resting until my 10k on Monday and pray that I can make it through it. I have heard that the Bolder Boulder course is not an easy one. I am hopeful the adrenaline of race day will help. I wish I knew what was going on with my leg. My doctor didn't seem concerned about it but maybe I should go see her again.

I don't understand why it can be so hard for our docs to listen. Runner's World has a section on the injured runner. It might be worth a look. Shin splints perhaps? Have you changed your shoes? Do you need to change your shoes? Foam roller? Resting sounds like a good start. Maybe some stretching above the pain- Quads, hamstrings, glutes, IT band etc... Good luck!

Maybe indulge in a pre run massage...

@Stoshew71 LOL! My husband use to be the "non arm pumper" AKA the fat girl run! Ugh, so funny! So stiff in his run!

Thanks again for the entertainment- I'm sitting in the docs waiting room- boring.

Hello all! I took 4 days off to wrap up our school year. Felt like it was all over. Felt like the races I have planned in July and Sept. were ridiculous dreams. But... I thank the LORD... we're done with the academic year and I ran just 3 miles today and made a new record 11.05min mile!

Walking up hills is my go-to strategy on long runs/long races. Keeps my knees from whining and gives me something to look forward to! Glad it's podcast-approved! :)

Hey @annekka ^^^^ that's the spirit! Glad I don't have to run in your temps and humidity!

Month to date: 168.17 km **Met my goal today, on to stretch-goal now**
Thu May 21 12:23PM	15.83 Hilly, warm, doggy tired!
    Wed May 20 6:55PM	4.78

    Sat May 9 1:56 PM	14.16
    Fri May 8 12:05 PM	7.67
    Thu May 7 5:38 PM	4.19

    Tue May 5 7:25 PM	8.49
    Tue May 4 0:00 PM	0.00 Rest
    Sun May 3 5:32 PM	6.5
    Sat May 2 4:16 PM	13.13
    Fri May 1 1:57 PM	7.62

Well how about that, I met my 160km goal today and the stretch goal is pretty darn close.

For me the biggest milestone isn't the mileage but that that I feel like a runner again. I was 255 pounds in September 2014, now around 190 on my way to 160, and when I started last fall I couldn't run 1km without wheezing and stopping more than once. Doesn't seem like so long now; but from the other end the road ahead looked formidably long. It wasn't, of course, one just has to start down the path.

Loved catching up on everyone's posts!
Couldn't run today or yesterday due to graduation and moving daughter out of dorm. Somehow caught a cold and one knee is acting strange. I think it's from walking up and down the hills. Knees are not used to hills. Planning on a run down the Hudson tomorrow morning. Not sure I will hit my goal but watching daughter graduate is my thrill for the month. :) Here is a silly shot of her.

Yeah it's approved!! Skip said Coach Barnes would kill me after all the work we do on hills. I said you haven't run hills since November and he won't be there LOL

@ddmom0811 Great picture! It's funny how sometimes I'll walk with my neighbor and things hurt that never hurt when I run LOL

@stoshew71 on Clinton is good. Will you have your phone? I'll have mine since Allen will be needing to get in touch with me.

@kristinegift to be honest, those guys could be complete morons and I wouldn't know any better, since they're just about my only source of info on ultra running, but they seem legit-ish.

@ddmom0811 that's a fabulous picture. Congrats to you and her!

7 miles for me today. Brings my total to 35 for the month. Crushing that 75 mile goal here. *eyeroll*
Still, I felt really good out there, which is what really matters.

Awesome group run! The store organized a pub run with a local brewery/restaurant, and we had about 30 people from the community and other running clubs show up. We had a 3 mile route and a 6 mile route, and then free beer tokens. Hoping they do it again, as it was a really fun time!

@mwyvr I think that's why I don't run daily, other than being exhausted! Hot weather running takes a lot out of you and requires extra recovery in this heat and humidity! Plus, it's been pouring for hours everyday as of late!

Does it cool off when it rains? Vancouver isn't like your climate but we do get a lot of rain during parts of the year. If I didn't run in the rain during those times, I would barely run at all.

I actually like running in the rain. In the summer if rain offered a break in the heat I'd take advantage of it.

I alternate two pairs of shoes; after a run I shove the wet ones full of newspaper (you need to change this a few times) - this allows them to dry fairly rapidly. By the time it is time to rotate into that pair of shoes (after using the other) they are always dry.

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear.

Anyway... it's worth a try if you've not already done so @annekka.

It is a bit cooler when it rains, but when we have torrential downpours and you end up with practically mile long puddles 15 cm deep. It's not so much the gear that's the problem but the rain. While there are sidewalks and stuff like that, when the roads are getting a bit more to the "flooded" state, on top of dealing with drivers who think they have the right of the road, it becomes a matter of safety. A runner friend of mine slipped and fell running in the rain the other day, and he's a seasoned runner. I do now have two different running shoes of two different types so it won't matter if one pair gets wet. So at least I'm ahead of the game in that respect. @mwyvr

Busy day today, haven't had time to read everyone's posts and it is late and I am very tired. I will try to catch up in the morning and then I am off to the agility trial - hopefully Hobbes the Vizsla will be focused and cooperate rather than running amok!
Managed to get in a run with a conference call in the middle (yes I stopped on the trail and called in :) ) and then completed my run! It was great running weather again, cool with just enough drizzle/light rain to cool me off.

I have been asked to try out a prototype for a new GPS watch - should be fun checking it all out and comparing it to MapMyRun and my Polar HRM...

5/2 - 5.25 beautiful miles through my neighborhood
    5/4 - 5 miles, indoor track
5/5 - 4 miles, treadmill (soggy, foggy day here); another 5 on stationary bike
    5/6 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
5/7 - woke up feeling like #$*%...so decided to go back to sleep. May run this evening if I feel better.
    5/8 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights
5/9 - 10.5 miles to celebrate 1000 days on MFP. Don't usually pay attention to those numbers, but 1000 is a lot!
5/10 - HAPPY MAMA'S DAY - rest for me too
5/11 - 4.5 chilly, windy miles. Who dialed the weather back a month or so?
    5/12 - 4 miles, indoor track; weights / abs
    5/13 - 4.05 miles
    5/14 - 4.75 miles, treadmill
5/15 - 4.1 miles, FOGGY...I kinda like running in the fog, feels mysterious.
    5/16 - 4.5 miles
    5/18 - 4.1 miles...lots of wind
    5/19 - 4 miles...still windy...is it May or March?
5/20 - 0! Ugh! Overslept and woke up to rain, no time to go to gym instead. Blech! Missed a lot here!
5/21 - 5 miles, treadmill (Trek class, like spin only running instead of a bike)
5/22 - 6 miles on a beautiful, sunny morning in DSM. Perfect 6 a.m. run!

@isulo_kura Your profile picture is fantastic!

To everyone running holiday races this weekend...good luck, have fun and kick *kitten*!
