Pretty straight forward question. How do you guys store your peanut butter, in the fridge or the pantry?

I use Skippys and Peanut butter and Company, I keep them in the fridge.

If it's natural, I keep it in the fridge. If not-cupboard.

Unfortunately I can't really keep it in either though because I'm a PB beast.

Always kept it in the pantry. Fridge leaves it hard as a rock and unspreadable (smuckers) though I think other brands would be different. Either way, I don't want cold pb.

On the shelf. Cold PB is nasty.

Word. I have to do PB2. I eat a jar a week. But that's a lot less calories than a jar of peanut butter per week.

I store it in the pantry. I use natural pb and it's hard to scoop when cold.

I keep it in my cupboard. I use Skippy No Stir Natural Peanut Butter. I like my peanut butter creamy and not hard, so it stays out at room temperature.

In the cupboards... Otherwise it isn't creamy or spreadable and the bread breaks... I hate it when my bread breaks. :'(

I grind my own raw peanuts...so in the fridge it goes. It would become rancid if I left it out room temp. And if I want it soft & smushy, I zap a li'l bit in the micro.

If you use an all-natural peanut butter (no fillers) and you eat it within a month, there's no sense in placing into the fridge. The oils can't go rancid that fast - I've had all-natural peanut butter out for 3 months and never had a problem. Peanut butter is always best served room temp.

If it's all natural, well stirred first, then in the fridge. Store in the fridge not to avoid it going rancid (doesn't last long enough here) but to avoid it separating out again, I'm a stir well-once person.

If it's not all natural, in the garbage.

I wouldn't use peanut butter that didn't need to be refrigerated. It generally means it's been made shelf stable by hydrogenated oils which yech. No thanks. Peanut butter should have at MOST two ingredients and it should live in the fridge.

Skippy "natural" isn't as natural as it could be, if the definition is "contains only peanuts" and maybe salt.
    Skippy No-Stir "Natural":
    Serving Size: 32g
    Amount per serving
    Calories 190
    Total Fat 16g
    Saturated Fat 3.5g
    Cholesterol 0mg
    Sodium 150mg
    Carbohydrates 6g
    Fiber 2g
    Sugar 3g
    Protein 7g
Ingredients: Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Palm Oil, Salt.

Palm Oil? Why would I want something like that in my PB? Some national health authorities specifically recommend against consuming palm oil or viewing palm oil as a replacement for the transfats companies like Hormel were so used to incorporating in their foods.

PB doesn't need additives. I don't like supporting makers who still sell crappy PB to the unsuspecting, but sometimes I gotta buy what's on the shelf rather than make a special trip to the local store that makes their own with nothing but peanuts.

Fortunately there are choices. Just a few:

Teddy has all natural and unsalted versions:

Kraft (Canada) All Natural ingredients: 100% peanuts. No salt.

Santa Cruz - hey, they offer "dark roasted" versions of their organic PB. Nice. Ingredients: Peanuts, salt.
