Painful knees

The more I work out the more painful my knees get. I do classes like aerobics, body combat, body pump etc. I have checked my form when lunging and squatting and it's fine.
So why are my knees hurting? Even going up the stairs is painful when I have a few days off they're ok but as soon as I workout again it starts. Its really wearing me down, obviously I don't want to give up exercise but what else can I do?

Could be your shoes.

Has a personal trainer checked your form and said it is good to go?
The type of shoes you wear for aerobics and those for lifting are not the same. So you made to need to swap shoes as you change from one type of exercise to another. The extra padding and lift that running and cross-training shoes provide are good for what they are designed to do. Lifting requires a shoe that provides a flat footed position. A good shoe for lifting is the good old converse high tops.
Get checked out by an Orthopedic Doctor. There is the possibility that you have some damage to your knees that you are not aware of from an injury you suffered earlier in life. That either needs to be repaired or properly rehabilitated.0 -
I agree with lishie it could be your shoes if you don't want to do to an ortho go to a running shoe store and see if they have a treadmill and video your run. I did this at fleet feet and they set me up with the right type of shoe I needed!0

Feeling your pain with the knees
Obviously, stop doing things that make them worse until you can get to the doctor to get checked out. There are many things that can go wrong with knees and sometimes they start out mild but get worse very quickly.

Be careful and don't overdo it. What I thought was just sore knees, I kept pushing through, working out hard and developed bursitis that quickly got infected and had cellulitus throughout my leg. Had nearly a month of being immobile because of it.
Invest in good shoes and watch out for the high impact cardio. Also watch high incline on the elliptical or treadmill.0 -
This was me he first two months of working out and it was my shoes. My knees are great now!!! They do not bother me at all...0

You need to get your own feet looked at by a pro.
I've been going without my custom orthotics for a week maybe? Got into my old sandals, because it was hot, hadn't gotten summer shoes yet. Today I walked with a 20 lb backpack for a few hours, knees were crying at the end of it. Both knees, which is weird, because although I have arthritis in both, only the one with PF usually hurts. I don't know if that's because I'm now adapted to the orthotics or what. I won't be going without again soon. That means going back to my winter boots until I find a pair I don't hate that I can actually wear.
I'll tell you what, though. It sucks to have shoe shopping be a freaking medical event, as a woman. All the shoes that fit my orthotics are 1) hideous and/or 2) expensive. Usually both.
All the normal ones are so cute this season, too. Too bad I can't make it longer than half an hour in anything you'd buy in a normal store. Seriously, how do most people walk in those high heels, or in totally unsupportive, might-as-well-be-cardboard flats?

It could be quad tendonitis, or patellofemoral syndrome, or about a dozen other things, unfortunately you'll have to see a pro. See either a sports medicine doctor or a physiotherapist. Regular doctors don't know what the heck's going on with knees. And orthos aren't interested unless they can do anything surgically, which is usually the last resort.0 -

i wear tight knee sleeves when i work out to hold everything in place. you might just have weak muscles around your knees and need to strengthen them up . My knees and joints used to hurt until i built up a little muscle.0
