hey, I bought the Fitbit flex today and I'm struggling to understand how it works. I've spent over 2 hours at the gym today and have apparently took close to 9000 steps. So why aren't the calories burned showing on myfitnesspal??? Does it update at midnight? Hoping I haven't just wasted money on an item to sync with MFP when it doesn't actually do what I expected it would

I had a hard time syncing them at first. I think I had to access the MFP section from my laptop (usually use my phone) and go to the "apps" page. But they definitely work together.

I don't have one but it should update mfp when you open the app and sync the Fitbit to the app. That's how my polar m400 works.

mine does not show up on myfitnesspal unless I sync the flex with its app and then go to fitnesspal.

You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (aka your maintenance calories). Your MFP calorie goal is activity level minus deficit. Adjustments are the difference between your Fitbit burn and your MFP activity level.

Click on any adjustment to see the math MFP used to calculate it. If your adjustment is zero, then you've burned even fewer calories than your activity level. Enable negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
