Nope, eat the 1400. MFP is set up so that you will lose on what it tells you (if you accurately log everything).

If 1400 is the goal that MFP gave you, that number already has your deficit calculated into it. By that, I mean that when you told MFP that you wanted to lose .5, 1, 1.5, or 2 pounds per week, MFP divided the number of calories that you would have to cut in order to do that by 7 (to spread it out over the week) and then subtracted that number from the number of calories you would need to maintain. Example:

If you told MFP that you want to lose 1 pound per week and MFP determined (from your height, weight, etc.) that you would need to 1900 calories per day to stay the same weight, MFP would have done this:

    1 pound = 3500 calories
3500/7 = 500 calories to cut per day
1900-500 = 1400 calories to eat each day in order to lose 1 pound per week

So eat the 1400 calories. No need to take off another 200.

The number MFP gives you already has a deficit taken out, so you can eat the 1400

This is an excellent question, and one I didn't know the answer to! Thanks.
