Binge, binge, binge

I usually have somewhere between 1200-1400 calories with little to no problem. If anything, the problem is in getting up to that number. However, over the past week I've had problems even getting my net to that number.
I won't even realize what I'm doing before, suddenly I've had 500+ calories of junk. And then it happens again later. Or it all happens in the same sitting (depends on the day). I've been having closer to 3000 calories lately and being small framed and only 5'4 my body can't handle the extra calories without gaining again. I've already gained 2-3 lbs this week. HELP!

It's unlikely you've gained 2-3 pounds of fat in a week. That said, you understand that you shouldn't be eating like that, so stop. Or seek help if you can't.

I am sure you have heard this all before. But you must eat something every 3 hours give or take. I usually go with every 2 1/2. Something with Protein would help the hunger. And having low cal snacks around in addition helps also. When i get home from work i have a big salad that for the most part is under 100 calories. I use a no cal dressing. And I can't even think about eating after that. This whole weight loss thing is a mind game. We something are just eating for the sake of eating. Could be boredom, Stress etc. Hang in there an find other ways to fulfill that need to eat. Crap if i can do it anyone can.

Time to come up with a strategy to interrupt that pattern. What are you going to do instead of eating more? Make a plan to succeed. It can be something like doing an exercise, walk, brushing your teeth, clean something, or going on line to shop for shoes ( check out the Nordstom sale!)

Logging what I eat, BEFORE I eat it has interrupted that pattern for me.

I'm a binger, it's an ongoing work in progress not to end up stuffing my face. I have other mitigating factors (mental illness) but the biggest thing that stops me reaching for the snacks is to eat often. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and if it's not too late and I'm not too full, another snack. Loads of lean meat and veg at dinner. When I fall off the regular eating wagon I fall onto the binge train but I'm getting better at trying to at least stay under my daily calorie goal if I do end up eating junk.

Lastly, don't judge yourself too harshly, it takes time and effort to break habits and adjust emotional behaviours.

No. You didn't gain 2 or 3 pounds in a week. I know this is controversial, but do you eat breakfast? Research shows that people who eat breakfast have a better record of losing/maintaining weight (no matter what anyone's personal opinion is).

Also, eating every 3 or 4 hours will keep your blood sugar stable and prevent overeating - unless you are bound and determined to overeat.

This is what happens to me. Don't beat yourself up though!! Tomorrow's a new day. I find I eat more when I'm bored. If I feel hungry and I know I'm not, I'll go for a walk, start a home project (yesterday I was picking out weeds from my brick driveway), I have a sewing hobby so that helps distract me. Just have to figure out what's triggering your munchies. Even when you figure that out it's still hard to realize why. Just practice I guess.

    Good luck!!
    You can do it :)

What do you put in your salad? I have a lot of trouble with salads 'cause they all taste bland/like nothing to me. I'm a vegetarian so no meat can be added though...but any suggestions?

    Do you like spicy?
I love to make a chicken salad and
    Dressing
Add 1 tsp or to taste Siracha
    Juice of one lime
    1tbsp honey
    Cilantro

I do usually eat breakfast, but sometimes I don't 'cause I feel like that opens the door for binges. I'm not diabetic so shouldn't my blood sugar be staying relatively stable by itself as long as I'm not fasting for days on end or something like that?

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of spicy, but sometimes I do like the kick. The lime and honey sound like it might be a good alternative to the ranch I usually like to use. I think I'll try that first and see if I like it. Thanks!

I put Spring mix lettuce. Tomatoes and those tiny Yellow, Red and Orange sweet peppers. And I put a really good dose of this 0 Calorie dressing. https://www.waldenfarms.com/products/dressings.html Depending on the dressing i will also put a 1/4 cup of Salsa.

    Not true at all.

Can you post that research article please?
