I just started Vitoza. So fAr it's curb my appetite a lot. Like I feel sick if I try to over eat. I have no interest in sugar either. A lot of side affects but so far I've had none. People complain of headaches or vomiting - nada for me.0

Is that similar to Metformin??0

I thought Metformin was a med for diabetes. Or is it now being used for weightloss as well? I took it a few years back till I could get my blood sugar under control, but didn't lose any weight.0

It's used for insulin resistance which is for women with PCOS. Weightloss is very hard for us.0

Victoza is not similar to metformin
Completely different prescription drugs
Victoza has many lawsuits and metformin is the safe first line insulin resistance drug.
If you are on metformin are you prediabetic or have metabolic syndrome? I know some of those are contributing factors to PCOS.
Cutting down on carbs usually goes hand in hand with helping metformin help you.0 -

I believe in prediabetic. I'm doing low carb and it's still not working that's why I'm considering Metformin. Thanks for letting me know the difference.0 -
I did a ton of research prior to going on victoza- gotta say there's a large number of women benefitting from this who are obese and have Pcos. I understand there's risk with every drug- but this has help people who are pre diabetic - lower there numbers to the point there not anymore. Women on average lost insane weight within mere months. Sometime low carb diets are not enough even for the more active of us.0

Also- I went to my gyno and my internist prior to going on victoza. My gyno who is a Pcos specialist- told me to do it. Strongly suggested it.0

I tried Metformin over ten years ago for my PCOS. My endocrinologist at the time prescribed it hoping it would help to regulate my cycles and with weight loss. I took it for several years and tried the regular and time release working up to the max recommended dose. I never lost more than a few lbs and it did not regulate my cycles. Eventually I stopped taking it because I wasn't seeing any improvement and only having gastric side effects. I was on a lot of online groups at the time for PCOS and there were many women who reported seeing improvements including significant weight loss. Unfortunately, I was not one of them. My last A1C was in the pre-diabetic range. I'm trying to lower by diet, but I'm considering trying metformin again if I can't get it down by my next appointment.0

I'm taking Metformin for pre-diabetes, after trying unsuccessfully to lower my A1c without it. I find it helps a bit with appetite, but not much. I am taking 500mg twice a day. I do hope to see better numbers in a couple of months, I've only been taking it about 10 days. No change in weight loss, and some unpleasant gastric side effects, which I hope will improve soon. It's a very safe, well-researched drug, so I think it's definitely worth trying, in combination with a low carbohydrate diet and exercise.
Good luck!0 -
Look up victoza. A lot of the issues I'm reading are being helped with a simple painless shot. The weight lost was so big during the trial- they sent a patent out to rename it for weight lost. It was released as a weight lost drug back in January. However it was made for prediabetic and type 2. The results were excellent. People were able to lower there a1c levels within mere months and most people with type 2 ended up lowering the amount of metrics? Or units? Not sure the term. I did a lot of research and read trial reviews from people. It helps women with Pcos as well. Helps regulate periods, weight lost and insulin resistance. I went to three doctors and did four weeks of blood work before agreeing to victoza0
