Some of the entries on the food database have the phrase "net carbs" embedded in the entry name. What does this really mean?

Net Carbs = Total Carbs - Dietary Fiber. It's used for people who do low-carb diets, since dietary fiber is passed through the system and not digested, so it doesn't cause your body to respond to insulin.

OK thanks much for that info. But I just compared two database entries for Medifast Blueberry Muffin soft bake. One said net carbs and the other did not. The nutritional content seemed identical though.

In countries outside the US, labels are printed different, and what is called "net carbs" in the US is just called "carbs." Fiber is listed as its own number completely. Aside from that, the database is only as smart as the people who enter their own food, and half of what's in there is wrong. Your best bet is always read your own label, and if you can't find an entry that matches it, make your own entry - you don't have to share it publicly to enter it.
