If it's whey, it can happen quite often.

When I first started consuming whey protein it would make me feel quite sick. But after a while I felt ok... maybe you could try another protein?

That doesn't happen to me but I have heard your body has to get used to protein in larger amounts

I am in no way an expert and you should check with your doctor/nutritionist. But I say "Heck yes!!" Diabetics should consume a diet higher in protein/low in sugar and refined carbs.
I was diabetic and my diet is mostly protein now...I am not longer diabetic.

I agree with the above- Maybe a double check with your doctor may be helpful.

The bloating maybe from your body not being used to taking in so much protein at once.

Sometimes diabetes can lead to kidney disease if its uncontrolled. (I'm not saying yours is uncontrolled OP, just for the lurkers) So if someone has kidney impairment, they need to be mindful of the amount of protein they are taking in.
