Calories not adding up

The calories are adding up to more than what I am entering. I had that service food yesterday and it added up differently. I did it on a calculator too and the app is overstating my calories.

Not sure what you are describing. Does the entry for that food show it as having more calories than what the package says, or are the totals not corresponding to the calories stated by the entry?

Often entries are off, either because the product has been reformulated, or because the user entered the numbers wrong. You can always create new entries that match the labels correctly.

If the entries are correct, but the total is off by more than a couple of calories (from rounding), I think you need to contact customer support, because that isn't supposed to happen and there must be a glitch somewhere. Sometimes the calories will not seem to agree with the macros if you don't account for fibre, but totalling up the calories from individual entries is straight up math and it should work.

The food I entered today, same as yesterday, is overstating the calories. It says 468 for lunch and it only adds up to 396 for example.my breakfast is wrong too. It shows correct calories bit is adding them up wrong. First time this has ever happened

Sounds like a glitch. I'd try closing out of the app and restarting and if the totals are still wrong, contact MFP support.

It's the math that is off, it's weird..I'm not able to contact customer support, it says I don't have permission? Very annoying

Are you using the help menu or the forum board? I think the support forum is archived so you can't post any new threads, but if you click help at the top of the screen it should let you ask a question or email MFP directly.

Maybe you could open your dairy so we can see what you are talking about? Or post a screen shot?

I've noticed this too and wish they would fix it for those who are going by calories....I track by macros and am pretty spot on everyday (give or take a few grams) but the calories are waaay off. Should be carbs and protein (1 g = 4 calories) fat (1g = 9 calories). I just ignore the calorie count now and ensure I'm within +/- 5g of my macros.

Are you accounting for fibre? It is included in the carb count, but not the calories, because it isn't fully digested. Though there is evidence that it may be partially digested, MFP and food labels count it as 0 calories. That could account for the discrepancy. Try using carbs-fibre in your calculation instead.
