My name is Shay, I am 19 years old a Mother of 2. 2 years and another 2 months. I have been trying to gain weight for years. From elementary school to now I have been stuck between 98lbs to 115. Except 4 during my pregnancies, after the weight just falls back off.. IMMEDIATELY But I am still skinny at 117 today. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on weight gain.. I want to b 135 by october and if you could help me I would LOVE THAT. I have tried everything. From ensure plus to boost plus to high calorie shakes to high calorie foods. I need a meal plan or something lol. I fear that my metabolism is to fast for me to gain and KEEP weight. And also what is surplus lol?
Plz help
Thank you

Surplus is eating over your maintenance calories. You need to do this consistently to gain weight.
How many calories do you eat daily? Do you eat calorie dense foods, with plenty of healthy fats? Go for fattier meats, oily fish, whole eggs, full fat dairy, cook in oil, add oil to salads and vegies, nuts and seeds and nut butter, coconut oil and milk/cream, avocado. Choose starchy vegies, calorie dense fruit, calorie dense carbs like rice, Quinoa, pasta etc. Make smoothies and drink your calories between meals.
Do you do any exercise? (I'd suggest limiting cardio and taking up resistance training to try and build some muscle rather than just putting on fat)
.... And some people have medical reasons for their metabolism to be really high. Have you been to your doctor about trying to gain weight?0 -
As long as you're eating healthy and maintaining weight, then I'd just go with whatever your body is doing. Which in this case is maintaining.
Otherwise, you should definitely discuss it with your doctor and not rely solely on a forum online.0 -
Drink a gallon of whole milk everyday on top of your regular meals. You will gain for sure. Spread it out throughout the day it isn't that hard to drink.0

get on a weight lifting program and increase your calories
look at starting strength, stronglifts, or new rules of lifting for women0 -
are you breastfeeding? that will affect your calories for the day0

If you're not logging, you have no idea if you're eating enough or not. The size of your meals means nothing in terms of caloric value. If you haven't had an appetite, it's likely you're eating less than you think.
If you are trying to put on weight, you may need to eat even if you're not hungry. Initially you may feel like you're forcing yourself to eat, but it my trigger you to feel like food again.

I thought I used to eat a lot too , until I logged my calories and saw it was not even close to being enough per day to gain.
