Hi everyone!

I have an event coming up and was wondering what the best way would be to slim down?
More weight lifting to sculp or more serious concentration on diet?

Thanks!!! :)

Start planning in advance of the event giving yourself enough time to get to your goals...

Otherwise invest in spanks, a nice outfit and a I don't give a f*** what anyone thinks attitude and have fun.

The best way to slim down is to eat less than you burn so that you lose 1/2 - 2 lb per week. The why (like an event) has no bearing on the how.

Eat at a moderate deficit given your personal situation and lift. Maybe avoid carbs and sodium as much as feasible in the days right before the event.

OP - I will add that is a bad idea to try and lose weight for an "event" and then not really care after said event, as this is going to set you up for yo-yo dieting. I would suggest creating a plan to lose x amount of weight and setting a reasonable goal date, and not worry about losing weight for "events"

Assuming that the event is quite soon, this will probably do more to make you feel good than any crash dieting or crazy exercise regime is likely to achieve.

If it's over a month away, just exercise and eat sensibly (at a reasonable calorie deficit) and you might lose a couple of pounds by then. Probably won't be noticeable but might give you a bit of a mental boost. Dropping your calorie intake really low/exercising 3 hours a day in advance of one event is not healthy or wise.

Key question: when is the event?

In two weeks! I'm thinking of cutting out all sugar and drinking more water to help? I'm hoping to lose maybe a few pounds of water weight.

I'd go with the hot dress advice in that timeframe.

Same, make sure it fits well! And if it's the sort of event where people will be taking photos of you, practise your best pose in front of the mirror and know what angles flatter you ;)

And cutting out sugar won't do anything for weight loss. Drinking more water might help but what you need is a calorie deficit for weight loss.

If your idea of "slimming down" involves less than four pounds, you might have other issues.

No. It was supposed to be a comment that someone who's sufficiently concerned about a couple of pounds to come on to a weight loss site looking for advice might not be thinking reasonably about weight and body issues.

A Protein Sparing Modified Fast (PSMF). Google that term, Rapid Fat Loss, and Lyle McDonald and look for information on places like Reddit and other boards. It is a diet that is designed to be short term.

Read what whole thing? Where did you previously mention those 30 pounds?

"Support" doesn't always mean "tell someone what they want to hear." If you aren't solely worried about losing a couple of pounds for an event, that's fine, but I don't think that's an unreasonable conclusion based on what you've posted. And that kind of thinking can be problematic, whether you think pointing that out is supportive or not.

Sexy Dress, and laxatives. Dress so they overlook the inches the laxative didn't remove. But not both at the same time, that's a bad combo. Laxative will squeeze out (no pun intended... at first!) an inch from the waist.
