I stopped taking BC in August 2014. I immediately gained 15 pounds within a month. I didnt change my eating/exercising habits at all. I was and still am eating around 2100 calories. I figured this weight gain was water weight. I know it takes time for your body to adjust as I did take Plan B once a couple of months so that messed everything up again.

Anyway, what im asking is, are there any women on here who have stopped taking BC, gained weight and successfully lost it? Please share your regimen or share your story. This would help me greatly.

If BC is really affecting your weight this much, you should talk to your doctor - because this isn't a typical result.

I've had to take Plan B twice in the last year and didn't see an ounce in fluctuation on the scale. I also talked to my doctor about weight gain and the pill and she informed me that it's largely a myth - with the possible exception of what you mentioned, water weight due to hormone changes (which goes away quickly).

If you are having such a huge physical and hormonal response, there are a ton of options out there with different hormone balances or low hormone doses. You should definitely ask a professional about what you can take.

Then I don't know what to tell you. Once the hormones leave the body though, they're gone. Losing weight should be no different than it is for someone off the pill. One just needs to eat at a deficit.

I'm on bc (mini pill) and have lost 80 lbs since September. BC may make it more difficult for some women (hormonal changes, or increased appetite) to lose weight, but a calorie deficit should work no matter if you are on it or if you've stopped taking it.

Calorie deficit is not working. Before I started BC I lost all the wieght i needed to lose and was maintaining. The weight I have gained wasnt from over eating, thats for sure.

You might want to talk to your doctor then. There isn't much we can do here for you.
I've never gained weight on birth control but a friend of mine did. When she stopped taking her birth control the weight just sort of dropped off of her. It wasn't much, like 15lbs or so. Could have been hormone related but also could have been coincidence.

I just got off the pill right about the same time I started here. About 3 months ago. I definitely didn't gain weight but I am wondering if it has made loosing harder? I know I could be a lot better about logging and exercising but I am not sure if getting off the pill did me any favors either. Hopefully things are starting to get normal and I can judge better.

Like others have said though if you think this is effecting you then you need to have a conversation with your doctor. There could be other factors at play

This is a common misconception. The hormones in birth control CAN cause increased appetite (which can cause weight gain- but only from eating a surplus of calories) and water retention.

This is another myth, just like "starvation mode"... Sometimes it's a lot easier to place the blame on something else rather than taking the responsibility...

BC itself doesnt cause weight gain which I know. Its just unfortunately, one of the side effects is weight gain.

I've been on Azurette since '08, and I've lost 30 lbs since January without a hitch. I'm not doing anything different from what everyone else on MFP is doing.

Weight gain is only a side effect because of increased appetite. I know. I put two stone on in a matter of months because I became a food Hoover and blamed the pills.

Of course it was me shovelling the food in my face not the pills. Lol

I'm on hormonal birth control and have lost over 20% of my body mass since January.
