Hello! I've been using MFP for a few years and just purchased a Fitbit. I've linked the accounts but it MFP isn't showing my steps from Fitbit under my excercises. I've gone into Fitbit and selected the negative calorie counter yet no results. Can anyone help? Is there something I'm missing? Thanks

You should see a Fitbit adjustment under exercise. It's the difference between your Fitbit burn (TDEE) & your MFP activity level.

To track your steps, in the MFP app go to More (or Settings) > Steps & choose Fitbit.

You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Enable negative calorie adjustments in your MFP diary settings: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Fitbit will only adjust calories if it sees a discrepancy between your MFP numbers and what it measures. I typically don't see an adjustment unless I walk at least ~5,000 steps, or if I manually enter in exercise. :)
  • Thank you for the quick replies. I've selected Fitbit as my tracker in MFP but it still isn't calculating. Here is pic from yesterday. I started using it halfway through the day. b9ayfcvagf6s.jpg

The 2nd picture is exactly correct. Click on that 0 adjustment to see the math, but you've burned fewer calories than your MFP activity level, and you've disabled negative calorie adjustments.

Set your activity level to sedentary and your goal to .5 lb. per week for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal & follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments.

Also, food & water only syncs one way—from MFP to Fitbit.
  • It was already enabled. I'm sorry For the bother and truly appreciate the help. I've made the other changes you suggested regarding sedentary and .5.

The first day you set up your Fitbit, it has to guesstimate your burn since midnight. So your first day's burn is always a mess. My adjustments were wonky at first, but they got better—almost as if MFP was "learning" my routine. So follow my directions for at least a week.

PS. Are you sure you enabled negative calorie adjustments? Because you shouldn't be seeing a zero adjustment.
  • It just posted correctly! Thank you so much for helping me. I hope you have a wonderful day; you've certainly made mine wonderful. Happy Friday. mj27k5xm33n6.jpg
