Soylent for diet control - Has anyone used it?

First, to be clear, I am not using Soylent or advocating for it.
I have a friend who has been using it, but he's not using it a meal replacement not for weight loss. He's a body hacker type (RFID implant, etc) so his goals and mine are not exactly compatible. I'd ask him, but I doubt I'd get an objective assessment.
Soylent is supposed to be a complete nutrition replacement (all macros and micros necessary), there are some people who claim to have lived on it without "normal" food for considerable lengths of time. It's supposed to have a composition that creates enough satiety, and it's not being sold as a miracle diet plan.
I'm thinking it could be a useful tool for creating a very exact level of calorie intake for limited periods of time. For example, you could precisely measure your intake for the course of a week or so, and see how it balances with your calories out.
Has anyone looked at it for something like that?
EDIT: I should include the weblink for the curious.

I'd love to hear if anyone has used it with calorie-counting.0 -
Is it made from people?0

When I first heard about it, the only situation I could realistically see myself using something like that would be at a festival of some kind. I worked on the bar at a festival a few years back and it was 15 hour shifts. I didn't want to live on festival food for the whole weekend so I had SlimFast shakes with me to make sure I was getting some form of nutrition.
The other alternative would be in circumstances where you needed a really high calorie intake. A relative did an expedition to the Arctic Circle and she had to eat somewhere around 3-4k calories a day and they used some form of powder supplement to aid that.
I don't believe it's really possible to achieve the same level of satiety with a shake type thing as you would with actual food.0 -

I agree with that. It's one reason I wouldn't think of it as a long term way of eating. More for a short term diagnostic sort of thing.

OMG! Where do you get this? GNC? Wait, never mind. My trainer would never go for that.In fact he'll probably not think it's a good idea for me to come on these forums0
