Does anyone use an electrolyte replacement? I never have but it was recently suggested a few times that I might need to. (not even sure what that means)

Any suggestions?

Drink a gatoraid or coconut water its costly but works. Just 12 ounces a day with 8 cups of water should be plenty

Coconut water is such a perfect drink...drink 16oz after every workout. For only 80 calories and all that Potassium and Magnesium, my heart nearly skips a beat...well it won't due to cocnut water... little bio humor ;-)

If my workout is longer than an hour and a half I put a cup of coconut water into my 800ml water bottle and fill the rest with water

I drink water. And not much of that either, for any run up to 2h, depending on weather.

I drink water. And for most of my runs under 2 hours in length, I drink nothing at all until finished.

Why has someone suggested you need to replace electrolytes?

I only use them when I'm on a long bicycle ride. I took one electrolyte tablet at about the 50 km point of the 100 km ride my husband and I did on Saturday.

They make dehydrated coconut water which I take backpacking with me. Bunch of different flavors and they taste pretty good. I think is more economical to buy a box of dehydrated coconut water instead of a case of bottles of it. I don't really take it otherwise because I'm never exerting myself for long periods of time.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of coconut water at all.

Someone asked why: I have increased my activity substantially and most of it is pretty intense so I sweat a lot. I've started getting dizzy, having muscle cramps and spasms....

Just surprised me, I never paid attention to any of those replacement things before.

    Thanks all!

Had you been drinking a *lot* of water?
