Am I becoming an over weight anorexic?

I didn't eat any sweets for 6 consecutive days except for fruit. I succumbed to temptation today and not only ate 6 slices of fresh pineapple (which was absolutely heavenly) but I also at a Reese's Klondike bar, a Heath Klondike bar and 3 serving of chocolate animal crackers after eating a whole chicken quarter. Needlesstosay, by 2:30pm, I was over my calories by about 1,400 so I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 3 hours and now I have about 500 spare calories because I burned off 1937 at the gym. Am I becoming an over weight anorexic? Please provide your honest feedback. After the 2nd Klondike bar, I wasn't even hungry but I had to try it. What the hell is wrong with me?

No, it sounds like you had a binge because you restricted yourself unnecessarily then decided to exercise for punishment. 1937 calories sounds like a lot for 3 hours walking.... I wouldn't be taking a machine reading as gospel.
Eat food you like in moderation to fit your goals. Sugar is not evil
Do exercise you enjoy, not as punishment. I've never trained so I could eat. I eat to train... Completely different mindset!0 -

I think you are vastly over estimating your calorie burn.0 -
The treadmill calculated the calories for me so is it safe to trust the treadmills?

I tried a low carb diet and I just can't do it so you are probably right with the binge based on unnecessary restrictions. I walked on the treadmill at different inclines ranging from 7.5-15.0 at 3 mph for 3 miles for 3 hours.0

have you talked to a professional about your feelings concerning food, calories, and weight?0
-
If it is not safe to trust the treadmill, how can you calculate how many calories you burn?0

You need to examine your relationship with food and exercise because if you dont, and you keep this up, you could lead yourself down a dangerous road.
Talk to a therapist.0 -
I'm finding it isn't quite safe to trust the stated calorie burn of almost anything.....
I searched and logged jet skiing today.
I refuse to believe that bombing around on the lake is burning hundreds of calories.
I chop it in half.....sometimes a quarter.0 -
If you feel like you're becoming one, you need to speak to a professional. And no, you can't trust what an exercise machine says you burned.0
-
No, I don't believe you are anorexic. It sounds like you were overly restrictive in your diet, and this led to over eating. It is why many on here say to try to work in treats and food you enjoy, so you don't feel deprived.
Anorexia is a serious eating disorder. At most, I would say you might want to rethink your diet and the way you think about food and exercise.0 -
I've never talked to a therapist about my weight issues. I personally don't think they give a s*&t! My doctor didn't seem to care that I complained to him that I felt like I was starving with the diet he gave me. He just wanted me to continue seeing him so he can get paid for the office visit. I was truly hungry with that diet and now I feel lost but I did seem to lose 4 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I hope it lasts.0

You're eating what?
Sorry but no ...stop
You need to eat protein and fats and a range of foods within your calorie defecit0 -
Actually did I misread, is this in addition to a balanced diet of proper food ?0
-
According to the MFP calculator, I still have 965 calories, 256 carbs, 52 in protein and 7 in sugars. I'm behind the 8 ball with fat by 26 grams and sodium by 690 but my sodium is low anyways.0

I ate eggs, ham, chicken, and a salad with cheese prior to my binge. I'm getting hungry now.0

One day of bingeing does not mean you have a food disorder.
But it's good you're taking a good look at your day and worrying what it does mean.
I recommend allowing yourself treats in moderation every day or two, so you don't feel you need to "catch up" on your treats all at once and go overboard.0 -
First - one occasion of binging does not mean you have an eating disorder. Trying to walk for 3 hours to make up for your bad decision also does not mean you have anorexia/bulimia.
Second - I am not sure how much you weigh - but I also strongly suspect an overestimation of calorie burn for the walking.
Third - If you are hungry again now - try eating some high fiber low calorie dense foods to make you feel better - ie broccoli, raw veggies. Being hungry does not sound like a good place for you right now.
Last - You may be right about your doctor - but you may be just unhappy with reality. If you are drastically overweight and needing to lose a lot of weight - you will likely be hungry at times while adjusting. If you choose the right foods for you, you should be able to make this a sustainable lifestyle and have very few occasions of hunger. You do not need to take it all off at once, but you will not be able to feel "stuffed" like you most probably did in the past. You should be able to get plenty of food to meet your body's needs - but if you have gotten this overweight by trying to use food to meet other mental needs- then yes, you will possibly need the help of a mental health professional to get you through those issues.0 -
Sorry - I just clicked over and read your profile. You report that you did have bulimia when you were in your 20's. You may have more significant food issues and likely should see a therapist while starting this journey. This is not the type of thing that a general practice doctor is equipped to handle well0

I was actually seeing a naturopathic doctor. He gave me a diet that would put me into ketosis. When I told him the diet was too harsh, he said eat more fats. He sold me some nutrition bars because I guess in the state of Connecticut, it is perfectly legal to do this with your patients but now I wonder if he is just an a@@hole that was taking advantage of someone that had medical issues along with weight issues. He told me I have a slight thyroid problem and sold me organic thyroid pills. He also said my Vitamin D was way off and he sold me a bottle of that. He showed me the lab results. What disturbed me about this whole blood work up was I had other flags he didn't seem interested in. I'm going to see my regular doctor when I am able. Bottom line, it is hard to trust doctors or therapists. I sincerely don't think they care. I was bulimic in my 20's. I abused laxatives when I binged and I walked/exercised excessively. My lowest weight was 97 pounds. I was 5' 3" back then but I shrunk a little and am now 5'2 1/2. I stopped the bulimic lifestyle when I took 2 or 3 laxatives and a water pill after I ate a can of olives. I sincerely thought I was going to die I felt so sick. The diet the doctor put me on made me feel nervous to some extent like I did in my 20s so I'm here. I would sincerely appreciate anyone's input. I know I need help I just don't know what the hell to do. Thank you.0

I currently weigh 162.8 without clothes. The highest normal for a person my height should be 139. I joined the obese club when I het 170 this winter but now I am technically overweight.0

This used to be a sticky on MFP. They unstickied it in what I consider to be one of the biggest mistakes the MFP powers that be have made.

I'm sorry that you are going through all of this. There are much easier (and healthier) ways to lose weight. If you read some of the links in the above thread, you will get a good basic knowledge of what you need to do to get started losing weight in a healthy and sustainable way.0 -
How do you know who to trust? I know that sounds dumb but I sincerely don't know. I think the last doctor I saw was a fraud and that kind of kills your self esteem on this journey. How would you screen for a good doctor. The dumbf*&k doctor I was seeing knew my leptin was low (it is a hormone that regulates your hunger) but he didn't seem to give a s*&t that I told him I felt like I was starving. He said eat more fats and proteins. When I did that, I either went over on my calories or carbs. Today, I'm over on my fats. I sincerely don't know what to do. I think I can get more help from people on this site because we are all motivated to get/stay healthy and aren't getting paid to do so. Do you hear where I'm coming from?0

Mine do
You seem to have distrust in professionals.. If you go into your appt. thinking they don't care, and they only want your money. What on earth would be the point of going back to your Doc then?
If you can't trust and openly discuss issues with a Professional...not much progress could be made.
Have you checked out other professionals or only 3? Perhaps the 3 you saw were not a good fit? When I'm depressed I have a hard time trusting ppl or seeing things clearly, I typically view life a more negatively.
You seem a bit negative (as in down), don't know if it's depression, your personality, or concern over your eating issues.
I hope you find a doc soon that you feel cares, one you can trust isn't after all your money and that is a good fit. Congrats on the weight loss!!0 -

You've had some very helpful replies here, to which I can't add.
But I do the opposite to you OP. I pre-log my days first thing in the morning, which 9 times out of 10 puts my calories in the Red. Then I exercise until my my calories get up to at least 200 in the green.
Listen to your gut, if you feel what your doing is detrimental to you physically and mentally, then don't ignore it. Reach out until you get the help you need xx0
