Should you change workout routines?

I've been following a push/pull upper body workout programme for 4 weeks now with 2 lower body workouts per week. Does anyone recommend changing the programmes after a period of time? Feeling my body knows what's coming in each workout and I need to shake it up! Any recommendations? I always start with a compound exercise at 5x5 heavy weight then progress into 4-5 exercises at 4x10-12 reps.

Thanks in advance

You should be able to increase your weights the longer you do the programme?

Certainly just wondered if switching routines would be beneficial?

Yes, you should change up your exercise routine, to target other muscles.

    Good luck

Yeah, eventually. But it's only been 4 weeks. I like to run a program for a number of months/cycles to see what it can do for me. Do you like the one you're on now? Which is it?

Constantly changing programs to confuse your muscles is utter nonsense. Keep adding resistance, take a deload week every so often and stick with a solid balanced program. No need to change.

Progression comes from increasing the weights. If you keep jumping from one program to another, how will you progress? You don't need to change programs to target weak points... you can add accessories after the big lifts.

Do your compound lifts for 3-6 months, see if you are getting the results you want (strength, aesthetics, etc.) and re-assess your goals. If you are a beginner (increasing weight every session), keep it up until you can no longer do that. You can graduate to an intermediate lifting plan after, or do something else if you prefer. But FINISH THE PROGRAM FIRST.
