Green tea or peppermint tea ??

Has anyone tried either green tea or peppermint tea to lose weight ?? Apparently it gives you metabolism boosters. To help burn fat quicker ? I'm thinking of giving it a try just wanted to see if there was any success stories out there ?x

    I second - there is no magic fat burner.

    I have matcha (green tea) powder in my yoghurt in the morning mostly for the caffeine (I don't drink coffee) and I like a peppermint tea after my lunch or dinner to settle my stomach. I wouldn't say either of them are the reason for my weight loss, eating a calorie deficit is, but they do play their part in helping me stay on track.

    yeah no

    the only thing that boosts your metabolism is laying down more muscle, and that only marginally

    (apart from speed and caffeine of course)

    Burn Fat Quicker? Move more, lift heavy

    To lose weight? No. They taste pretty good though.

    All you need to lose weight is a calorie deficit.

    Yes you should google things, what you should really do is take care on your research and analysis when reaching your conclusions.

    The problem with things that are supposed to burn more calories (even exercise) is that people tend to use them as an excuse to eat more. I worked out, so I can eat more. I drank a diet soda, so I can eat more. Green tea is speeding up my metabolism, so I can eat more. However effective they may be, they are often minor in comparison to what people assume they are. That leads to weight gain rather than weight loss.

    Also, I once found green peppermint-chamomile tea, so yummy! Didn't help me lose weight but it was divine!

    Not for weight loss. I have a mint green tea blend that's delicious. I have two cups a day. I also drink matcha (don't care for the taste but I love the antioxidants), which is a green tea. It hasn't seemed to have an impact on my weight at all, so if that's your only motivation for drinking it I would say don't bother. Try walking an hour a day or something similar if you want to speed up your metabolism.

    The only thing that those tasted to help me an excuse my English please is my second language was that I drink a lot of them cold in between meals as if drinking regular water to keep me a little more full. However mint does help my sensitive stomach. As far as helping me lose weight only so much as a whole keep me full between meals but that's because I'm drinking a lot of it and it would be the same if it was water

    Tea may not be a magic fat burner, but I do find it helps with that "I've got to put something in my mouth right now" feeling - almost zero calories, it's warm and comforting, and staying hydrated helps you feel full. No magic, but I still find it helpful!

    I drink green tea because I enjoy it and I drink peppermint tea if I need to relax. As far as what I've read, green tea is only beneficial to your metabolism if you drink it 11-12 cups a day and, honestly, that much caffeine can't be that great for you. Drink them if you like them or to get away from sodas (peppermint tea is about the only thing I know that will put a dent in a caffeine withdrawal headache).

    I drink green tea with lemon myrtle because I like it, and peppermint tea if I have an upset tummy. Neither noticeably help with weight loss, however.

    Mmhh perhaps it makes you burn an extra 4-5 calories a day? ;) If there was a fat burner on the market there would be no fat people lol ;)

    You need to be especially careful of the teas that are marketed as "diet" or "fat burning". They are generally either a stimulant or a laxative, or both and can create very embarrassing results.

    Otherwise, drink your tea if you like the taste. As others have mentioned, it can help as a substitute for food when you feel like you want to put something in your mouth (as opposed to actual hunger) and additional hydration is good. How many antioxidants are available is a big debate, but tea (or herbal tisanes) definitely cannot hurt. I love tea. I also occasionally drink a tisane steeped from mint leaves because I find it relaxes me and one I make from steeping cracked ginger works really well on a queasy stomach. I lived on that for the few weeks it took to get used to a new medication my doctor put me on.

Try an Asian bakery if you have one nearby with green tea cookies - they taste exactly how they smell (if well done I assume) - you can taste the plant better than in the actual infusion. I don't know if they are even made with real green tea or some aroma (this for the purists out there), but they taste to me like green tea smells in the freshly opened packet.

    I confess I snort the green tea powder left in the packet.

    I saw the topic and I was going to say, love them both. But I don't use them for weight loss. I use them for hydration.

    Fyi, a cup of matcha green tea has over 100x the amount of EGCG of regular steeped green tea, which is the fat burning antioxidant studies say can help metabolism. I'd say if you're going to drink for weight loss, invest in some good matcha powder.

    It's probably not initially substantial, but I'd imagine if you stuck with it everyday, it may help over time.

    I also read somewhere that having protein (including cow milk) with green tea can cause the fat burning chemical to be less effective, so watch your timing and what you mix it with.

    But even if it doesn't aid weight loss, the antioxidants are great for you!

    Just a generic herbal tea comment tbh ...all the flavours we get smell divine, taste of dishwater

    I like peppermint tea and honey/camomile flavored tea. Ive not used it so much for weightloss but a way to have tea without milk and sugar and it tastes great :)

    Um....nope.

    I like the taste of green tea......so I drink it. Zero calories and flavored bags make great iced tea! Don't use boiling water or green tea will be bitter.

    Food does not "burn fat" unfortunately.

    Couldn't agree more. I think it's false advertising lol. I started testing out different teas to reduce my coffee consumption and regardless of strong tea smelled, it was always stale tasting with a hint of old plant. I would brew tea and let it cool so I could just chug it. I finally stumbled across a mint green tea blend that smells amazing and actually has a solid mint taste - could almost use it as mouthwash lol. It's organic so I know they're not adding chemicals to increase the strength of the flavor.

    I drink green tea for the comfort and the antioxidants(: No clue if it helps with weightloss, if it does it's gotta be only marginally. It's not an unhealthy thing to add to your diet though!
