6 months and 8 kilos and 18 inches loss

so, I have been trying to loose weight. Got myself a gym membership, started counting calories and basically tried to change my lifestyle. All in small measures, nothing drastic. Try to visit the gym at least five times a week for an hour at least -do some cardio and weights. Snack less and eat more of fresh fruits and veggies. Try to get more sleep. try to bring less work home over the weekends.Stuff like that.
And I have lost 8 kilos and 18 inches. I don't have an experience doing this. Is the weight and inch loss normal? What else can I do? I don't want to kill myself doing something very drastic, but would love to loose weight at a faster pace. And of course maintain it!

With only 8kg left to lose (if the ticker on your profile is correct), you should be aiming for about 0.2 - 0.5kg (0.5-1lb) per week, which is pretty much what you've got (with an average of 0.3kg or 0.7lb/week). If you still want to lose quicker you simply need to reduce your calorie intake or increase your exercise, but the rate you're losing at now is healthy.0

I think weight training is not the best practice to loose weight. Cardio is much better.0

Weight training will mean that you retain more muscle mass while you lose weight. If you don't do it, when you get to your goal weight, you'll have a higher fat % (and therefore look worse) than you would have done if you had done weight training.
Plus, having more muscle burns more calories, so ultimately you want it for weight loss/maintenance.

Thank you everyone!
@DemoraFairy - I am just thinking that the next 8 kilos will take another 6 months. Meaning 15 kilos in one year. But if that's what it takes, I am all in. For the last two months, I haven't lost any weight. Only inches. Sort of demotivating actually. Clothes look a little better on me, but no change when I step on the weighing machine.
@DemoraFairy @szecsenyi - think both of you are right. Earlier, when I didn't do any weights and was still loosing weight- it was all good initially, but then my body especially my abdomen started looking worse. I was loosing lot of inches there but it didn't look good (is toned the word I am looking for?). I looked pregnant. Maybe water retention added to my woes. now I look a little better but not much weight loss. Maybe I should slightly increase cardio and still do weights.0 -
That seems like a high inches lost vs kg lost. Inches from your waist?
I lost 50kg and lost at most 12 inches.0 -
Waist, hip and thigh0

Inch loss is good. For a health measurement they now look at waist:hip ratio and not just BMI - check it out.0

Who cares what you weigh if you're looking better? Unless you're doing it to get to a healthy BMI, weight is just a number. You don't walk around with scales on your feet all day, no one's going to know what you weigh lol
I would actually love to lose inches and not lbs... this time last year I was 4lbs off underweight and still not really close to what I wanted to look like, I still looked like I had loads of fat to lose. Another 4lbs wasn't going to change that, and I wasn't going to let myself go down to an unhealthy weight, so I felt like I would never look how I wanted. Of course if I could lose inches without losing weight that wouldn't be a problem!
The solution to that of course is weight lifting, but I honestly can't bring myself to do that and stick with it. I think I'd rather settle with a body I'm not completely happy with, to be honest.0
