Could be water weight. Weight loss isn't linear.0

Agree w/strong_curves; also, may be gains in muscle mass if lifting.0

SMH. Stop with the muscle mass nonsense for the love of all that's holy.
How in the world can a female put on 2 lbs of muscle mass in a week eating 1200 calories/day???
It's probably
1. Water weight fluctuation (especially if exercise is new to you)
2. Natural weight fluctuation
3. Inaccuracy in logging
4. Combination of all the above0 -

Why do so many people believe you can put on muscle in a week or 2 and on a deficit??? Where did this idea come from?

Thanks all...exercise isn't new to me but this AMOUNT of exercise is...and I have been using weights. Was just kinda sad when I weighed after a week of hard work and the scales went up and not down Hopefully it is just water weight etc...0

It could be any of which @ceoverturf said in his post and it could be a combination of all those factors. The thing is you have to be patient with weight loss. You could go a few weeks without losing any weight or just bouncing up and down in a weight range. Weight loss isn't linear (there's a thread called that here, I suggest you run a search and read up on it).

You need to familiarise yourself with how and why your body fluctauates 1-4 or even 5lbs in a day and why its perfectly normal as well as understanding the reasons behind it.0 -
weight fluctuates. I wouldn't worry about it.
if it continues, I might suggest getting a food scale for an accurate idea of what u are truly eating0 -

I always gain weight when I start a harder workout, or up my weights. so maybe your body is just retaining water. I wouldnt be worried check again next week and you are probably back to normal0 -
I am right there with you. Gained a 1lb in a day. Give it more time. I make adjustments after 4 weeks if needed. Be patient. Slow and steady.0

I went almost two weeks only down half a pound. Now I've lost two each of the last two weeks. It does take time. And I think working out can cause a water gain.0

Do NOT let this discourage you... keep going, it'll happen.0 -

Not in a deficit it's not!
OP, its most likely water retention.0 -

Could be retaining water, could be retaining solids , could be TOM. Don't judge by a single week, look at the longer trend. If you still haven't dropped in a few weeks, then look at your logging accuracy and figure out where you are going wrong.0

Thank you all so much!! It really helps to have support and encouragement!! I'm going to keep on keeping on and see where I am midweek!!0
