it took me 3 weeks to start showing progress. Hang in there, it will happen!

eating less works for everybody if losing weight is your goal ? Give it time, weigh your food, log it and if you exercise, great. If not don't worry. To lose weight all you need to be doing is burning more than you eat0
-
Keep positive I'm having slow progress but I know if I stick to it I will get there0
-
It really works if you are accurate with calories consumed and calories burned.0

Anytime your body is at a calorie deficit you will lose weight. Make sure you are tracking accurately. Until I got a food scale and measuring spoons/cups I was amazed at how much I was overeating. Good Luck on your journey, you can do this! This site is full of motivation.0

If you bite it, write it :-)
Honestly, all the little nibbles here and there add up. I'm not suggesting you haven't done this, but agree with what has already been said, if you are not measuring accurately or logging everything it soon adds up.
Sometimes the loss in the second week makes up for the disappointment in the first week Hang in there!0 -
Hang in there!!0

Great advice. I tried the eyeball method when I first started. You can trick yourself into going a little over the serving size but only counting the serving size. Measure and weigh works best for me.0 -
It takes more than a week. You know this.
If you haven't lost any weight in 6 weeks, eat less.0 -
It is a life time change. Find other things that you can look at. Be sure to measure, too. I am a slave to the scale, but the measurement tracking helps. Keep going.

Thank you everyone, I have measures and weighed everything.. The only day I could not log was yesterday as my phone would not let me do anything.. I sync with my fitbit and wonder if it's because I have been eating the extra calories from activity? Should I just stick to my base calories?0

Stick to it for 4-6 weeks and then reevaluate. If you started working out this week, you're probably holding on to more water to repair your muscles, which will mask a loss. You'll never see a loss every single week, and sometimes even a gain. The key is to be consistently accurate and look for a downward trend.0

i have a fitbit and when i started i ate back almost all my exercise calories and lost at a good clip. if you are truly weighing and measuring then give it a little time. being a girl, especially, your weight can fluctuate throughout the month. stick with it and re-evaluate in a few weeks!0

The best thing I did for me was buy a scale and measure everything I cooked, prepared, and consumed. I also had to come to terms with the fact that not eating enough can severely slow down progress.
Stick with it and you will be rewarded!!!0 -
Patience, grasshopper. You'll get there. If you're expecting loss after only one week, you'll be disappointed. Keep in mind that you gained this weight over time, and will therefore lose it over time0
-
I have tried every diet going i think.. This is my last hope of being the person I want to be.. I have about 50lb to lose so will be tough but it's what I want more than anything right now0

Totally been where you are. Hang in there! Like everyone else is saying, it can take a while before you actually start seeing the scale start to move. (I think it was 2-4 weeks for me.) Keep going!! It can be really disappointing when we don't see the results that we expect. Please know that you aren't alone.
This does work, but it takes work on your end. Everyone's advice above is great! So I won't add to it. I will say that I believe in you and that you're worth sticking with this.0 -
It took a few weeks for me to start losing anything, don't get disheartened by this though! Stick with it and you'll start to see it change soon enough! You got this!0

Thank you, I think over the years I have come to just expext failure even when I do something to the book, but I will keep going.. So should I eat my fitbit extra calories or just stick to the basic? What do you all think?0

It's disappointing when we've been "good" and expect to see big results - and see little to no change. Or, even worse, we gain weight LOL! Like everyone else said, be sure to measure/weigh your food and hit your calorie range. For me, when I don't eat enough, my weight loss stalls. I know it sounds crazy, but after months and months of working towards my goal, I can see a clear pattern of no loss the weeks I'm way under calorie wise. Conversely, the weeks I'm at/slightly over my daily calorie goal, I have the biggest weight loss. I try to focus on what I can control - my food intake, my exercise and my attitude. The weight loss happens at it's own pace.0

When you say you measure-- do you mean just your liquids? The food scale should be used for everything else.
It could be that you're eating too many activity calories. In general, I give myself 100 calories per mile run and about 25-50 calories per half hour of lifting.
Still, you need to give it time. I've lost 70 lbs on myfitnesspal. Some weeks I lost 0 lbs, some weeks it looked like I gained 4 lbs (water weight fluctuations).0 -
You really need to start preparing yourself for a long journey with ups and owns or you will drive yourself mad and not make it to the end.0
-
I'm afraid to weigh myself and gauge my loss/gain by the way my clothes fit. I don't want to get obsessed with a scale and the fluctuations women face so that's how I do it. Every so often I will weigh myself to get a number though.0
-
I use the scale too, I had 30g branflakes with 150ml milk for breakfast all measures and weighed.. I ecen measure any milk I put In coffee.. And the exercise calories I use are only the ones my Fitbit adds automatically.. I don't put any in manually0
-
Realistically you will not have a loss every single week and there will be weeks where you gain. I have had lots of ups and downs, but the overall trend is down so I would say it works. I have learned so much since I started, just hang in there and keep going. The days will pass no matter what.0

CBR500, being female and not a kid anymore (with the kid metabolism) adds an extra layer of challenge. Our bodies retain weight for any number of reasons: too much salt, not drinking enough water, sore muscles, and hormones. You just have to push through. Do the right things and the loss will come. I'm on a bit of a plateau myself (with 10 pounds I want to lose) and I've gone back to logging and weighing everything, and drinking lots of water. Hang in there!0
-
Are you weighing yourself at the appropriate times? I always weigh myself naked every morning, before drinking or eating anything, and after I've gone to the bathroom. That way, there's not any extra weight from clothes, food you've eaten that day, anything in your bowels and also water that you drank.
Even with all those measures, consider that your weight changes CONSTANTLY during the day, because of many, many factors. SO you're going to see some peaks. Some days it'll rise, other days it'll go down.
DO NOT worry about these. Once you have enough data from weighing yourself everyday, you will see an average slope on the little progress graph that the app offers. Only then you will start to see the pattern and think, oh, I've lost weight.
Counting your calories and weighing your food may in fact be precise. I don't really do this, I just eat what I believe appropriate and try to estimate whatever amount of Calories that was (I don't think it's exact, but ALWAYS round up).
So what if you don't see progress in one week. This thing takes months, not just the weight loss thing, also to make a decent graph with all that data.
I hope you stick to it, and begin to see some progress. Have a good day!0
