I want to try out one of these, but I am wondering which one you would all recommend for someone who is quite a bit out of shape? Thanks for all the help

Both will be quite intense if you are out of shape! The trainers is what set these two programs apart. My suggestion is to decide which style you like best and order that program. Then, as you are doing the program, work at your own pace!! Press pause if you need more of a break and press play again once you feel you can get back into it. Either one will give you extreme results as long as you stick to the program and utilize the nutrition guide and plan as outlined! Don't skip anything!
I was fairly out of shape the first time I did P90X, but I made it through and was the most fit I had been since high school. I now do Insanity, the most extreme of the Beachbody programs.
Best wishes to you, no matter what you decide!!I want to try out one of these, but I am wondering which one you would all recommend for someone who is quite a bit out of shape? Thanks for all the help0 -
Well, it really depends on what you want...both are EXTREMELY intense.
I've done 2 round of P90X and am on my 1st round of Turbo Fire...none of them are a walk in the park! On P90X there is a lot more weight lifting which is awesome, and Turbo Fire is a lot more concentrated on HARD core cardio! The cardio on P90X is not so good, but you get really strong (without getting bulky).
So I guess if you want to focus on getting fit anaerobicly, Turbo Fire would be my suggestion. But if you want to get strong, P90X! Both of them will help you lose weight if thats what you are asking, you just have to follow the program and eat right.
Turbo Fire is a lot less time devoting than P90X. Max of 1h a day for Turbo Fire and that is a minimum for P90X. I personally think Chalean Johnson is a better motivator than Tony...although I LOVE both of them...
Hope I helped...0 -

Hi -- I think they are pretty different. P90X is about "muscle confusion," and TurboFire is "cardio confusion." I am sure people will respond to you with their experiences, but in addition, I'd check out YouTube videos. Listening to each trainer and seeing some of the workouts helped me figure out which one I'd like best. You can kind of get a peak into them that way. Good luck!0

Hey girl.. I have been doing p90x for 6 weeks now and I've lost 6lbs, though I started at 131 and want to get down to 115. So, I dont have too much to lose. I haven't done turbo fire. But, I have to say either will probably do great. I'm loving p90x because I'm not just trying to cut the fat.. I'm trying to build muscle and become stronger. I couldn't do a pull up or even figure out which muscles should be trying to pull me up (LOL) when I first started. Now I can do 2 pull ups. Turbo fire seems like its more about burning fat fast. But, I'm not sure. I just started p90x because my friend was.
Good luck, whichever you choose!!!!!0 -
If you are a dancer and/or really like cardio, TurboFire may be for you. But If you want a well rounded program that has cardio, resistence trianing, core work, yoga, etc. then go with P90X. I have not done the full TurboFire plan, but Ive done most of th workouts. P90X is what got me started excercising again about 2.5 years ago. I lost 25 lbs and 4 inches off my waist the first 90 days.
I think either one will give you results if you follow the workouts and the diet plan. It just depends if you want to do cardio type stuff every single workout or not. I would choose the X but Im biased.0 -
I am currently doing an Insanity/ChaLean extreme hybrid and love it! I have not done P90X but Turbo Fire is on my list to buy for sure! I think all BB programs are great. They have a great comparison chart on their website to help you decide which is right for you too. Good luck!0

I have both prgrams...and LOVE them!!! I'm on my 2nd round of P90X and week 8 of Turbo Fire. YES, they're intense programs...but as a beginner, you can always MODIFY the moves to suit you. And as you get stronger, you can again modify the moves. With either program, you'll be happy and satisfied. FYI, I've never been active/exercised until I did P90X. Now, I look forward to starting my day with either Chalene or Tony...and I'm also running now!!!
My next Beachbody program will probably be Insanity...can't wait.  :bigsmile:0 -
Thanks for all your responses. I really appreciate it and LOVE this board! I think I am going to get both, but going to start with turbofire first. I am a college student with 2 kids and a husband so I am very busy, and need something that I can fit in around everything. Thanks again!!0
