Jim Stoppani's Shortcut to Shred

Hello there! Been bulking for about 4 months (a little bit over) but feel that I have accumulated a little more fat than I would have liked. So I decided I am going to do a cut so I can get lean and try again but a little more slowly and for a longer period of time. I was just wondering if anyone had done this program and had any advice or success with it?
Also, can't really afford to buy all the supplements or follow the meal plans to a tee. Was anyone in the same situation as me with this?

How current is your profile picture? If it's current a cut would not be the way to go if your goal is to gain lean mass as judging from your profile picture there's really not a lot there to start of with. An alternative to a cut for reducing body fat would be to look into carb cycling.
The program itself is very good with the diet built on a 3 phase carb depletion going into keto. As for supplements remember JS has his own supp line so he's going to push the supplement angle hard. Are they necessary.... do your own research and draw you're own conclusions, but remember they are only an aide and you can't out supplement a crappy diet or training plan. That's not to say that all supplements are useless, far from it but much of what you need can be gained from your diet.
As for foods hit up your local grocery store and stick to their own brands for staples like oats, tuna etc. Wholesale places like Costco can help keep costs down for your proteins when you buy in bulk and freeze and look for seasonal produce for your veggies.
EDIT: took a quick look at the rest of your pics..... carb cycling would be the way to go to reduce body fat not a cut, there simply isn't enough lean mass there.0 -
@Ironmaiden4life , nah that picture is about a month old I think I have not updated it or any of those pictures in a fair amount of time. I am currently about 5 pounds heavier then my profile picture I believe (maybe 6). I wanted to cut because I feel have gained a little too much fat and that a cut could help me out before attempting a longer and slower bulk this time. I will post some updated pictures so you can get a better idea of where I am at.
What is keto? And I only have whey protein and some creatine, I do not really have a lot to spend on supplements since most of what I have goes to food so I can get in enough calories for the day.
Did you have good results from this program?0 -
I meant to ask this in the other thread...do you have access to a gym? I really think you would benefit from a structrd lifting program like strong lifts, starting strength, etc...I hear that all pro is a good one too but I have to give @SideSteel propos for that one, as he mentioned it in another thread.0

Ignore all that Keto/carb cycling nonsense man ...all you really needis straight calorie deficit and hit your micros/macros...0 -
@ndj1979 ..... OP has very little muscle and wants to reduce his body fat. Putting him into straight calorie deficit is going to result in losing precious lean mass and further on down the road a screwed up metabolism. Your program suggestions however are very good recommendations.
OP our bodies are designed to be fueled by carbohydrates but they have the ability to utilize protein and fats for fuel when glycogen is not available. Keto refers to Ketogenic diets which is a diet high in protein and fat and low in carbohydrate (usually under 50g of carbs a day). Carb depleting is pretty rough for the first 4 - 5 days until your body switches over to using fats as fuel and then most people usually see an upswing in their energy levels. I'm not a huge advocate of keto unless you're in competition prep and trying to grind off the last few pounds of stubborn body fat.
I really wouldn't get so hung up on supps. A good protein powder is great for convenience but not necessary if you can hit your protein macro with real food. Creatine is a great supplement but again eat enough of the right food and you'll have plenty of creatine floating around. The only thing I really recommend is a good multi vitamin simply to make sure you're getting all the vitamins and minerals and you're not depleted due to restricting certain foods from your diet.
I really think judging from your pictures a solid program like the ones nd1979 suggested would be the way to go. You need to pack on some lean mass so when you do decide to shred there's something there to reveal. At this point I'd simply concentrate on lifting heavy, having a solid diet in place and see where you are in 6 months, but if you are dead set on cutting down body fat then a carb cycle would be more appropriate.0 -
I started shortcut to shred last week , so im mid way through week 2. Not following his supp or eating guide as my current macros are working well for me, I was finding that I was getting bored at the gym and not building up a sweat the past few weeks so I gave S2S a go and im really enjoying it, even if it does mean cardio in between weights, it's really giving me a great workout each morning0

@daniebanks thanks for that! Nice to know someone else is doing it and not following the diet to a tee. What are your current macros? And any progress so far?0 -

If OP just eats in a deficit then he will lose weight. Why does he need to carb cycle? I have never carb cycled and I am down ten pounds on my most recent cut.

2 weeks is a bit short of a time frame to have any major progress, I do feel like im actually getting something out of it, it's pushing me and I leave the gym feeling 100% satisfied with my workout. I actually like the cardio involved as i find it wakes me up and, plus I don't like just waiting around to do the next set, I would much prefer to be doing something in between.
the workouts def make me feel it the next day/days
