Going to the san diego county fair and I am GOING to eat and drink while I'm there so i don't want to hear "don't eat" my question is should i even log or just know tomorrow I'm going to be way over. My maintenance is 1900 so I'm assuming il probably hit that eating fried everything all day. I don't think MFP has fried oreos in the log.. well maybe they do haha.

Try and log as best as you can and try and eat as best as you can. It's really your choice OP.0

i will do my best to not over indulge but its a once a year kind of a thing haha! I basically just go for the games and the food anyway. I just don't know how to even log that food... like a krispy kream donut burger? like huh?!0 -

This.
I'd get the fried Oreos.
Also a funnel cake.0 -
Have fun. Walk a lot. You may find that you are only over a reasonable amount if you stay active through the day.0

i was hoping for that as well.. hoping the walking offsets at least some of it.0 -

Log it. What's it hurt and you will have a record.0 -

Im sure I'm just so excited for the food that once i get there i won't actually be able to eat as much as I'm planning on. Last year i think i ate deep fried oreos and nachos but i went in starving planing on eating on of everything.0 -

Yeah, make the best guess estimations, you'd be surprised what you find in the database. Or just quick add calories with a WAG. And have a great time.0

You could also eat a proper meal before the fair, then get whatever you want and only eat half? walk a lot like someone said. According to CalorieKing, the cals for one tray of 5 deep fried Oreos is 890....yikes!

Offset fried Oreos...? Nah, not really.
Just decide ahead of time if you're cutting loose, or not. If it's the former, quick add 4500 calories for the day, and don't bother with logging, unless you *really* want to know.0 -

Personally, I would just skip logging for that day. Think of it as a day off... don't worry about it. Just keep in mind what you did eat and don't over indulge. Get back at it the next day!0

I have found that sharing food with friends or family is very helpful in situations like a fair. Most of the excitement associated with the food for me is trying as many unique, greasy, amazing combinations of food as possible.
I have generally been very satisfied with a third or quarter of the portion served when we have put this strategy in action. Some food still gets thrown away and occasionally someone wants "more" of a particular item, but by sharing I get to try everything and not completely blow my maintenance for the day!
Of course YMMV depending on group dynamics.0 -

I just googled those and (if you trust random reports) the burger was 1000 calories (seems about right) and the Oreo was about 200.
I'd log it. Diaries are about keeping track, not keeping track of good days, KWIM?
Have fun, either way.

Don't know, don't care. The point was that the OP can likely find some items in the MFP database that would be reasonable approximates for the carny food. Fried oreos had been mentioned (not by the OP), so I used that as a item to search.
Personally, a fried oreo sounds awful, but fairs are a great place for trying something normally "out-of-bounds". The beauty of eating at a consistent deficit is that one day of indulgence doesn't do as much damage as fad diets would claim.
Special events become easy. Decide before how much you'd like to indulge. Log it, own it, move on. Done.

Perhaps, hehe. I might try the deep fried Coca-Cola for curiosity's sake.0 -

I'm aware of all that (unless you're directing it at OP). But I'm also aware that some things just ain't worth the calories . . .and that does not sound worth it.0 -

im not really sure if i have ever consumed anything deep fried i didn't like. i could probably just eat the deep fried breading dipped in whatever. in fact as a child when i hated onions (love em now) i would just eat the breading off onions rings dipped in ranch... you know I'm really upset i can't eat like that anymore haha0 -

i look at it as a fun experience with my husband drinking to much, playing to many carnie games, and eating crappy food is a memory i will cherish.. is the drinking and eating necessary? no but it makes it that much better.0 -

It's okay that when we sometimes go over our calorie goals, but it becomes a problem when we eat too much too often.
The fair sounds really fun. Enjoy and just log the best you can.

i for sure have yet to over come the "its just one day" idea and do it probably too often. I have so little to lose so its coming off pretty slow and i still have quite the appetite. i wish my 1500 a day was really like 2500 ha!0
