My doc has me on a high protein/low carb diet. Any suggestion on what to eat for either. I know fruit is a very limited item, and vegetables are not counting. Thanks in advance. :-)

I'm doing this right now, actually. My mornings consist usually of a couple pieces of bacon, two eggs, a piece of fruit (grapefruit is a good one). Lunch is tuna with a bit of mayo for consistency on ezekial bread (only 15g carbs). Dinner is black beans, veggies and either brown rice, wheat pasta, chicken or some other piece of meat. Snacks can be: nuts, smoothies (I like to make fruit smoothies with a scoop of protein powder), protein shakes, banana, etc. to make up for calories you don't use.0

That all depends on what high protein and low carb means to you - what were the Dr's recommendations in terms of grams per day?
Vegetables DO count, just like fruit, they are carbs and have calories....
You could plan your meals by starting with the protein source. Divide the protein grams evenly between how many meals you want and pick where you want to get the protein from. Add your fats and carbs after that to make a "meal" .0 -
Great breakfast? Eggs and any number of breakfast meats. Throw in some berries on the side for sweetness (best kinds of fruit to minimize carbs).
For lunch, pick up a few packs of low-carb tortillas. There's a whole bunch of varieties out there - I like La Tortilla brand because they have it at all of my local grocery stores. Then, you can layer up a wrap with all your favorite lunchmeats, cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, etc.
Dinner is pretty easy - just any variety of meat with veggies on the side. Salads are always best for veggies, heavy emphasis on the green leafies.
I've low carbed for years. It gets to be second nature after awhile.0 -
I use those as a reference, I'm also on a low carb High protein diet., Hope it helps0

My breakfast is 2 TBSP of chia seeds, ground: 1 TBSP coconut oil; coffee-- all blended with a stick blender. Keeps me going.

It's hard to give you good answers without knowing what "low carb" means to your doctor in terms of grams or percentages. I just eat more protein and less carbs. So, I eat 1/2 cup of rice (24 g carbs) instead of a bigger serving.0

Sorry, I am so excited about the responses. I am on a 60g carb--60/70g fat and 140g protein. We are trying to get my blood sugars regulated.0

For breakfasts I like a runny egg on roasted vegetables, egg/veggie scrambles, or frittatas. For lunch I pull out (premade on weekend) portioned bowls of chili, stew, soup, curry, stuffed peppers or make a salad. For dinner I will make vegetable noodles, any of the lunches I keep frozen, meat + veg in any capacity, stir fry, stuffed vegetables (eggplant, spaghetti squash, zucchini/squash, peppers, tomatoes), or any kind of low carb casserole.0
