Eat more, lose more?

I have read so many times that I should eat back the calories I burn, but I struggle with even eating the 1700 calories a day. I normally burn between 700-1200 calories during my work out. I would just like feedback on your success with eating back your calories, even some of them. Also, what do you eat? I find it nearly impossible to get in 1700 calories eating clean (non processed foods).

Wow, what kind of workout do you do to burn that many calories? O.o You'd have to be running non-stop at about 7mph for 2 hours without slowing down or taking a break to burn 1200 calories...no way could I do that!

Also, "clean" eating is just a bro-science catchphrase and has very little actual meaning. Eat what you like as long as you're getting in your macro and micronutrients. If what you like is mostly non processed foods, great! But nothing wrong with adding some more calorie dense items like nuts and nut butters, avocados, grass fed butter, olive oil, local ice cream made from fresh local milk, etc.

It depends on how much you weigh and what your heart rate is. I burn about 600-700 calories during my hour bootcamp class, then I walk or run at night and burn more. When I walk at a brisk pace for an hour I burn about 500 calories, when I run I easily burn 1000 calories in an hour. I'm very heavy and my heart rate gets decently high during my workouts. Tabata bootcamp does interval training which is good at burning calories :) I hope this helps.

What is your current workout routine? If you are struggling with meeting your calories, it may be beneficial to find calorie-dense foods that you enjoy. If I need a calorie boost, I love peanut butter and full-fat yogurt (sometimes together). You might also look into a protein powder to help boost energy if you haven't already. If you open your diary (found under Food > Settings > At the bottom) people can give more specific advice.

Thanks! I guess for me that just seems like an astronomical number :)

    Yep - calorie dense foods........

Olive oil, nuts, nut butters, full fat dairy, avocado, seeds, eggs. Small portion sized but they pack a lot of nutrition.

Lol well, I weigh A LOT. A friend of mine who weighs about 100 lbs less burns significantly less than I do. We have the same HRM as well and we always do the workout together and then compare :)

I actually have been adding a lot of sunflower seeds to my diet :) I can't do dairy because it really messes with my stomach. I tried to avoid avocados because of the carbs, I think I just need to get over that because they have a ton of nutrients!

I do Tabata bootcamp in the morning, and at night I do either running or walking for an hour. I also do yoga two times a week instead of the walking/running :)

Avocados for 100g has 9 grams of carb but also has 7 grams of fiber giving you a net of 2 grams of carbs. It also has 15 grams of healthy fats.

I mean, in general don't be afraid of fat. I've been eating butter, bacon, chips, chocolate all within moderation and I'm still losing.
