LOOK AT MY DIARY FOR THE DAY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT I EAT DURING THE DAY TOO
Okkk soooo every night before bed, at about 7-8pm, I have my favorite snack/meal in the world! It consists of....
1- bowl of special k cereal
1- gala apple
1- fiber one bar
1 and one snack of my choice.
I usually eat it about 2 hours before I go to bed so I don't go to bed all bloaty. Now tonight, I am getting home from a hard basketball practice at about 9:30 and probably go to bed at around 11-11:30. Do you think it's still ok to have my cereal platter for my big nighttime snack? Let me know what you think

I think it will be fine. You are still burning extra calories from basketball plus if you're hungry eat. You are still young and your metabolism is high enough to be able to do this. If I'm hungry at 9 and am going to bed at 11, I will eat a little something.0

If you have the calories that you need to consume, then do it. I eat in bed within a half hour of falling asleep, but I do long morning runs and can't eat before I go out. I need the calories and carbs as late as possible, since there's no way I can run with food in my stomach. If it becomes a problem for you, then stop doing it. It's really a little trial and error, since we're all unique.0

I for one, absolutely think you should have your snack, particularly since your body needs something to help it recover. You may want to throw a banana in there to help with muscle repair (depending on how demanding the workout it). Also, be sure to drink plenty of water - working out without properly hydrating can mean some serious muscle cramps when you sleep.
Have fun tonight!0 -
Hey, that is a lot better than my pre-bed snack last night: ice cream and saltine crackers! Paying for it today!0

It will be fine but it's also dependent on if you are trying to gain muscle or lose fat.
Here is the reason why. Carbs and fat will bind with proteins to affect protein uptake in an adverse way. So take in some simple carbs yes and then a good strong protein source if you are trying to gain muscle post a anabolic workout. In a catatonic workout you can take in more carbs and less protein if your focus is endurance and weight loss.0 -
If it helps I always ate after bball practice or a game...ALWAYS! My body was hungry and it told me to eat:)0

I often don't finish up with working out until 9 pm, then need some wind down time so will net eat a "dinner" style meal until 9:30 or 10. I still have lost weight by keeping track of my Cals.
On those night I just can't bring myself to eat my full cal load, then I wake up so fracking hungry I could eat my pillow.
But that is how it works for me, but can be different for others.0 -
yeah i wake up hungry too if i dont eat before bed but i guess that isnt the worst thing to happen lol. and after eating dinner and the rest of my food up until this point, i dont think i am going to eat anymore until tomorrow morning haha. im stuffffeeedd0

Pistachio's and maybe a fruit bar thats about 80 calories. I eat pistachio's 7 days a week for their health benefits and fat burning properties.0
