How to make
Enjoy! This is a great breakfast, and is very filling.
What you will need:
- 1 large white egg (72 calories) (you may also use only the yolk, I know some people dislike egg white's texture)
- 0.5 cup of dry white rice (170 calories (this may fluctuate depending on what kind of rice you use))
- 0.5 cup of water
- 1 tbsp of soy sauce (10 calories, I recommend Kikoman, and this part is optional)
- A pot and cover (or a rice cooker)
How to make
- Bring water to simmering boil in uncovered pot
- Add rice, and cover. You want soft and fluffy rice.
- Once the rice is done, put it in your bowl, and add soy sauce (optional)
- Mix
- Create small 'bowl' in the top of your rice, with a spoon or other utensil
- Crack egg and put in the small hole in the rice you have just made
- Mix this all together
Enjoy! This is a great breakfast, and is very filling.

I'd suggest eating local, farm raised eggs, within 21 days of laying, who's hens have had a very healthy diet.
But if you can't do that, buying pasturized eggs at the grocery store makes the process much much safer.0 -
Suggestions/variations:
- Eat wrapped up in nori (seaweed sheets)
- Mix with a bit of miso paste for extra flavor
- Add chopped green onion
- For the adventurous, combine with Natto and miso at the same time.
I've been eating this simple meal for years now with no ill effects. I like it best wrapped up in nori.0 -
