Thank you - that is brilliant. Just last week I had a light bulb moment where I realised I need to be eating more fat and this week it has helped reduce my appetite and my weight loss has restarted.
I made some notes at the beginning....
Every 5 years dietary guidelines are released for Americans. One noticeable change... there is no upper limit on total fat anymore
"reducing total fat/replacing total fat with overall carbohydrates does not lower cardiovascular disease risk. Dietary advice should put the emphasis on optimising types of dietary fat and not reducing total fat"
Limiting total fat was also not recommended for obesity prevention. instead the focus was placed on helpful 3 based diet pattern that includes more vegetables, fruits, wholegrains, seafood, legumes and dairy products and includes less meats, sugar sweetened food and drinks and refined grains.
Nearly four decades of nutrition policy has been reversed that placed priority on reducing total fat consumption throughout the population.
A global limit on total fats reduced the intake of helpful fats like nuts, vegetable oils and fish that are particularly helpful
Nutritional science has advanced substantially in recent decades. Randomised trials confirmed that diets higher in helpful fats, replacing carbs or proteins and exceeding the current 35% fat limit reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.
