Why do you work out

Today I had a friend ask me why I work out everyday and after thinking for a few moments I told him it helps with my confidence, if I think I look better I feel better about myself. So my question is why do you work out, what's your motivation

I like feeling fit, achieving personal goals, and being able to eat more.0

I like the "high" it gives me and I like the sound sleep I get at night.0
-
It is transforming my body
0 -
It helps lower my blood pressure, improves my mood on bad days, I sleep better at night, and I fit in smaller clothes.0

To be a better me ...0

To be fit and transorm my body. Because I am competative and enjoy pushing myself to achieve new goals. To be able to eat what I want, when I want and not feel guilty. To have the kind of body that people stare at , because of the high I get, because of the sense of community in some of my classes an at my MMA club, for the confidence in knowing I can achieve anything physically challenging.0

because i like to eat0

I like to feel Strong!0

because I like to eat. and because it helps me get healthier. it improves my ablity to enjoy hikes and that sorta thing.
because I want to be toned and not skinny fat when I get to my goal weight0 -
Because being fit is awesome and regular exercise is also required for optimal health. I don't exercise necessarily everyday, but I do exercise regularly...to be 5-6 days per week usually.0
-
It helps to get to my goals. Also I get the confidence thing you feel. That is a added bonus of working out I think every exerciser will feel or start to feel.0

cus im making all kind of gainz0
-
Because I actually enjoy it.0

To relieve stress and to get fit and toned and let out whatever pent up aggresion i store inside.0

Addicted to the "high"... that anxious feeling on a day I'm running 8 miles, the calm once I hit that 1 mile mark and nothing but the rhythm of my breath and shoes hitting the pavement and that strong, confident feeling at the end.0
-
Because it helps me reduce stress, makes my body stronger and is good for my memory.
But mainly because I really enjoy it and really miss it if I don't go.0 -
1. My first reason is that it feels good. I've been fat, thin, and fit. Fit feels the best.
2. I also like to test my body to see what it can do. Can I run this half-marathon faster than the last one? Can I lift a little more weight today?
3. And the side effect is that at almost fifty, I'm in the best shape of my life body shape-wise, and health-wise.0 -
To stay healthy and active. So my bones and muscles and joints continue to function properly into old age.0
-
So I can eat more!!! that really is what motivates me. LoL Looking better and feeling better are a close second.0
-
Because mediocrity sucks.0
-
Because it feels great to be active.
For health reasons (heart-health, lower blood pressure, helps to get a good solid night's sleep etc.)
To keep a fit, strong body.

- puts me in a better mood
- relieves stress
- feels good to move after sitting all day at work
- general health
- aesthetics
- achieve personal fitness goals (strength, endurance, etc)
- hobby/interest
- possibly get to eat a little more than I would if I didn't0 -
I love challenges, and I love competing against myself. Every time something that seemed insurmountable gets easier, I get a rush of confidence.
Then I find something else to work on. I work out because there's always some way you can improve.0 -
I have more reasons to go to the gym than not.
- My hobbies are all physical - martial arts, drumming, running. Hitting the gym helps me keep in shape to make sure I can spar well, have the endurance to play the biggest-*kitten* drum for an hour in a performance, and keep me in running shape so I can join my friends in our summer race-sprees.
- It improves my mood. I turn into a goddamn dragon if I don't hit the weights. It's a natural way for me to greet my day with a big smile and a persistent positive outlook despite how much wrong there is at work.
- Squat butt. That is all.
- The feeling of pushing yourself bit by bit, daily, to the peak of what you can do - and then persisting past that - is addictive and immensely powerful. I used to be a quitter, but not anymore. I am a stronger person because of the lifting and determination and discipline that regular gym-going has helped me develop.
- The regular New Zealander at my gym gives me supreme hell if I skip more than one day a week. Do not incur her wrath - lift regularly and run, in preparation to avoid her rage.
- Zombies, Run! is too fun and well-written a story not to follow regular running schedules.
- My boyfriend deserves a girl with a smokin'-hot bod and the self-respect to try to outdo him in all her lifts.
And who am I kidding? I'm a vain woman - lifting helps me look hot and I want to be the woman in the low-cut-back red dress who makes the men drool and the women hate. The musculature of regular lifting is hot, the confidence it instills feels better than any well-tailored dress and the pride I feel in my accomplishments is addictive.0 -
Aside from using it as a tool for my weight loss goals (and obviously fitness goals)- I feel so much better about myself when I finish a work out- healthier, less anxious, etc. and it motivates me to continue working out / eating healthy etc.0
