What are foods that caused inflammation? I was watching the Dr oz show about it but I couldn't recall what were the foods discussed.

You know Dr. Oz has about as much health /nutrition knowledge, as the pope does with porn-stars, right?

You can go to his website and do a search there. You should be able to find out what foods he was talking about.

I would think it would depend on you on what's inflammatory to your body. I know right away when I've eaten something inflammatory. My weight spikes up and I just feel puffy. Forget about Dr. Oz. Just listen to your body and pay attention to when you feel off.

    Celery?

Apparently. And apparently some folks are VERY allergic to it.

    from the arthritis website

    from womans health

now whether any of this is true, I don't know. I have chronic inflammation issues but I have not tried to change my diet. I love dairy, and I love tropical fruits, pasta.

exactly! There is even a blood test you can do that will list what foods are more inflammatory to your particularly.

What does it mean to say that a food is "inflammatory"? What does it inflame? How much? For how long? What are the effects of said inflammation?

Yep. The internet. Everything's a sales pitch. Have you been to iifym.com lately?
I chose that one because it was a list rather than a lengthy discussion.

    Dr Oz is a crackpot.

I feel better without dairy and processed carbs though. My sister cut out all processed carbs from her diet as a result of having horrible stomach problems with no specific cause. She feels fantastic and dropped to her ideal weight within a year (no calorie counting) after cutting out breads, pastas, etc.

So cutting out all of those foods absolutely did not have the effect of lowering her normal calorie intake? ie you are saying that the kind of foods you eat matter but how much you eat does not?

Nahh, of course she knows that cutting out the foods she mentioned lead to less calories eaten

I think she just felt better so she worked out more and then wanted to keep up with leaving out the processed carbs. It was a vicious cycle when she was sick. She didn't cut out carbs or really even lower them, she just switched up what she was eating.

If you think you have inflammation issues, you can get a blood test called C-reactive protein (CRP)

Ps- I cut out all processed grains and carbs once and also felt terrific. Tons of energy, easy weight loss, great skin. But I could only keep it up for about 4 months before I slipped back down that slope (into wine, cheese, crackers.... Rest is history).
