Diatomaceous Earth

I used it for a couple of months. It usually took me an hour to get the gumption up to drink the stuff. Drinking that dirt milkshake was a most displeasing process
But I kept at it, and honestly, I didn't notice any difference I ended up using the rest of the pack on my bed and carpets. Had I noticed any positive changes I would have continued, but it just wasn't worth the yuckness factor for no noticeable difference.
One bonus however, was cleaner teeth, as I had to brush afterward to get the grit out from between my teeth.

Rigger
i doubt you use food grade in your coop You won't find food grade at Tractor Supply
Actually I do use food grade, and I buy it at Cal Ranch, they carry both, and so does IFA and Tractor Supply. I still wouldn't eat the stuff.

DE is used to filter beer.0

My husband, two kids and myself all take food grade DE every few days. My oldest son kept getting pinworm and the DE keeps them away. Other than parasite prevention, we haven't noticed anything.
We also sprinkle it in our chicken coop to keep fleas and mites away.

Can someone link me to where it shows it can work for either worms (pinworms) or fleas (cats)? Would be interested in sharing the info to someone who might need it! lol0

The guy at Tractor Supply scooped up a finger full & ingested it right in front of me. I originally bought it for my chickens, goats & dogs as a supplement to fend off insects & mosquitos. I'll definitely check out the pros & cons of human consumption.

Since I'm not infested with ticks, fleas, or carpet beetles, I'll take a pass.0

I dunno...Tractor Supply doesn't exactly scream "Good source for dietary information" to me.0 -
It's not dirt, it is the fossilized remains of marine phytoplankton. It can do many things as read here http://www.processedfreeamerica.org/resources/health-news/793-health-benefits-of-diatomaceous-earth- and there was a study done that showed it can lower cholesterol, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9533930
The study abstract you posted ends with "placebo controlled trials are needed to confirm these results". Shame that no one's gotten around to doing those since 1998. Better guess? The results didn't differ between the control group and the investigation group. It's a real shame there's a publishing bias against negative results.0 -
i give it to my dogs......0

I sprinkle it around the pool cage in an effort to keep bugs away. Mine doesn't look like dirt. It's a creamy tan and more like sand.
I didn't know people ate it. What is it supposed to do?0 -

This made me laugh.

Man, I need to publish a study showing that kitty litter doesn't kill you. There's a huge untapped market for this stuff!
Then I'm moving onto clumping kitty litter.
Huge profit!0 -

Natures way Hair, Skin and Nails gummies are delish and make your nails strong. Hair seems thicker too. Much tastier way to go. Don't know about the energy either, as that is attributable to working out and eating better.0
