PROTEIN!!! i'm tellin you, chocolate protein powder in my coffee saved my life lol!! i'm 4 months in, lost 48lbs, and it's the first thing i mention when people ask how i did it. it really really helps!!

i also hear a lot of women adding up to 500 calories during TOM because you're body need the extra fuel, so if you go a little over, don't feel too guilty :) i haven't tried that yet, but i think i might allow myself a little extra for MY next tom :)

    good luck!!!

Usually if the craving is really strong, I don't ignore it, I just eat something in moderation. Or better yet, find something healthy that can take the place of what you want. Say you are craving chocolate ice cream.... have a sugar free fudge bar or two (40 calories each).... If you're craving chocolate, have a couple kisses... I think 5 kisses is around 100 calories? I could be wrong on that, I'm not a big plain chocolate person. Just remember it's never the wrong time to lose weight! Just stick with it and you're going to do great!

For chocolate cravings, I usually have a chocolate protein shake or a bar like a special K or Fiber One bar with chocolate. I mean, let's be honest, it's just not the same! A sugar free fudge bar is a GREAT idea! I'm going to have to pick some up.

They're so good, and because you can have two for less than a normal 100 calorie snack, it's perfect for late night sweet tooth! :)

First off, when did it become "TOM" I have never heard it called that until this sight. I have found it's easier to ignore the cravings when I have made a habit of not eating chocolate throughout the rest of the month. If I am eating well the other 25 days of the month ruining it because of Mother Nature doesn't seem like such a good idea.

Also, what your body is craving is potassium so a banana is normally a good alternative (I like to add peanut butter that makes it feel like more of a treat.) If you MUST eat chocolate, go for the dark chocolate, it's less processed and has antioxidants that are good for your heart. Happy weight loosing!

I originally said mother nature, however someone else called it TOM so I figured that was more polite way of saying it on this site.. lol. I eat bananas, lots of them actually and it doesn't really do anything for the chocolate craving, as for dark chocolate - I don't like it. I don't eat much chocolate to begin with because of having diabetes, so anything I do consume is sugar free.

Please let us know what kind you use - I am clueless about protein powders, etc. I could use the extra as I'm not burning all my calories and I've stayed the same for my first month - granted I feel better but I want to see numbers go down! :) Thanks!

Cindy, this is where I get my stuff from and they are a local store (I think) right here in Columbia. They have like 20 different flavors of protein powder.
