Curious about people's opinions. Back around 3 months ago I weighed 178 pounds. I went on a diet joined the gym and am now sitting at 143 pounds. My question is, is weight loss at this rate bad for you? I mean happy with the results though, just want to see people's views.

Unless you're quite short such that 178 made you substantially overweight, it's probably a bit faster than it should be.

Generally it's not advised to lose weight too quickly, but you're still in a healthy BMI, so that's good at least. You likely lost a lot of lean body mass and water along with some fat. Have you looked into starting a progressive lifting program?

It's not unrealistic for a guy your age (guys tend to lose weight a little easier than girls). It's about 2.5 lbs a week which is a little more than is usually recommended for someone your weight but as long as it was done without a crash diet, I don't see the problem. Just make sure you hit all of your daily calorie requirements and that you are getting enough nutrients and good stuff in your body. If you have any concerns, you may want to make an appointment to see your doctor to rule out anything medical that may cause you to lose weight too quickly. Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing. It's obviously a good thing for you!

Not yet. I've never been muscly at all. Though currently sticking with gym/and swimming. My weights always fluctuated a lot.

Nearly 3 lbs per week would be more in tune with someone who is morbidly obese, not a young male who is barely overweight. 1 lb per week would've been more ideal. He also probably shouldn't lose much more, if any. He shouldn't "keep doing what he's doing," he needs to eat a sustainable diet and try to regain some of the LBM he's lost.

What are your goals? Do you want to be skinny? Reduce BF%? Build muscle?

Yea I plan to eat more and just increase gym time to build muscle. Mainly reduce body fat.

Here is your TDEE based on your age on your profile (25) and the stats you've given. 2300 calories to maintain your current weight. I would try to eat at maintenance for a bit and start lifting heavy weights, if I were you. You'll see an uptick on the scale at first, but it shouldn't be much and it will even out. You can adjust your calories as needed if you find yourself losing/gaining more rapidly than you'd like over the next several weeks.

Try to aim for about .8-1 gram of protein per gram of LBM (probably around 120-130 grams for you right now). That should get you on the right track.
