Okay I have no butt whatsoever never have even when I was smaller. But I have a pocket of fat above my flat butt is that my hips? can I do anything to make it smaller or at least my butt the same size? All I see on google is telling me to get liposuction. . It's pretty discouraging. And im not talking about my lovehandles.

No. You cannot spot reduce fat. Your genetics dictate where your fat comes off of.

Why would you bother with liposuction unless it was completely necessary? Weight loss costs nothing, liposuction does.

You can't really spot reduce fat. Your body picks and chooses where the fat will come off.

To lose fat, be in a calorie deficit.

If you want to spot reduce your fat, then yes, lipo may be the way to go.

    I have no butt

Squat. Not sissy squats or smith machine squats, either. Barbell squats. Many. Now.

I have the opposite problem, well, I don't consider it a problem but my butt had dropped with age and lack of exercise. You'd be amazed the difference squats and lunges can make, I don't even do weighted versions, just bodyweight and my behind is about 5 inches higher and getting rounder and more aesthetically pleasing by the day. So squat squat squat and squat some more!

How did you measure how high your behind got? I've never heard of that before - I mean, I understand, 'cause I can see a difference in my own's... er, height?... but I can't figure out how to actually measure that. How do you do it?
  • Thanks. I do want Lipo couldn't afford it anyhow but i guess I just have *kitten* genetics lol. I'm pretty proportionate in every other aspect it's just this stupid pocket. Maybe if I tone my butt it will lift and help. Let's hope. Squats for days I guess lol.

You don't have *kitten* genetics, you just haven't built your muscle, yet. Don't just squat - look into strength training, too. It'll help your entire body and not just aesthetically.

But, yes. Squats for days is a very good start.

Well, I don't know how high exactly but when measuring my hips I have had to completely change the location of the tape measure because the biggest part of my butt just isn't where it was when I first started measuring! A friend also verified the visible massive difference (I hadn't seen her since before I started working out and losing weight).

    Ah, okay!

That's awesome! Congrats on the... uh... butt? I have to say, it's probably been my favourite change aside from my forearms that I've noticed while working out - I never realized how much a firm bubble-butt does to make a gal look thinner in the waist.

Haha! Thanks. I'm lucky that I am always and forever an hourglass with a big round behind, regardless what weight I am, however it sure is pleasing to have it becoming a more refined and firm hourglass. Getting my shoulders back is the second best thing for me.

They speak the truth. It'll help create a better look by both toning and adding muscle. No one likes a flabby butt.

This. If you want a butt you have to squat. It's also the best lifting exercise you can do. Squats will work your whole body and your core.

Get that barbell on your back and squat girl! I've added 1.5 inches onto my butt over the past 6 months by doing lots and lots of heavy *kitten* squats. Who would ever have thought a bigger butt would look so good?!? lol
  • Thanks everyone.. I have a long way to go but I'm gonna do it. I will I had a big fat butt that I could just lift and tone but it just wasn't in the cards for me lol so squat on I shall.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but how do I keep the barbell from hurting my shoulders/back? I didn't think I was so precious, but owie!

It just takes time to get used to it. Now I ache a little when I'm doing around 135 but below that it's not even noticeable.

Make sure you have the bar in the correct position for the type of squat you are doing (highbar vs lowbar).

After that, I think just a little time will help. It took me about two weeks of SL 5x5 before I just didn't notice it anymore.

You can fold up a towel and place this between your neck and the barbell. Or the gym should have some sort of pad to use instead. Once you build some traps you'll be fine though :)

The best exercises to begin with are full squats, and bridges. Then advance with single-leg squats and bridges. Then weighted...

Also Google Brett Contreras. He created the Strong Curves program. The Strong Curves Program is a full-body program with extra focus on glutes.
