NSV with wasting of 3 bucks

Went for a lunchtime walk & ate my sandwich at the same time. That's not the NSV.

I caved to a desire for a frappuchino while I was out, in part because I have a cold and I indulge myself when sick. Not NSV.

Bought the frap. Not the NSV.

About 3 minutes later and 4 sips, tossed the 90% of the frappuchino in the trash because:

a) It wasn't that good, and
b) I thought, "Take care of yourself the way you would take care of your kid."

That's a NSV for me. Normally I'd ignore the thought and I'd drink it, even if it was unsatisfying.

The walk calories probably equals the calories in the sips I had.

Out 3 bucks, but maybe next time I won't cave in.

Good for you! You made a great healthy lifestyle choice in the face of Real Life. When you're over you cold it will get even easier. Hang in there!

That is a great NSV! Throwing away food has always been difficult for me, even if it didn't taste good to me, but I'm getting better at it!

That is so awesome! I have had food I loved not taste like it used to. I am so proud of you. I bet if you look around the house, van, or your pants pockets you will find enough change to make up for the lose money. LOL

    Way to go!!!

Thats a great achievement!! I've started NOT clearing my plate recently (after belonging to the clean plate club for 30+ years!!) and its so wonderful when we realise that our habits are changing as well as the number on the scale!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly though! One thing I can say for sure now I'm eating better, I'm taking less time to recover from feeling really yucky (I have chronic fatigue syndrome - basically I feel every day like I'm trying to kick the 'flu) and I'm getting my ''va va voom'' back, slowly but surely!!

So yay for changing habits and therefore changing lives :D

    xx

You're doing great! It's funny to realize that sonething you thought would taste great really isn't all that appealing anymore. The best thing is that you threw it out rather than eating it anyway!

I actually did something like this the other day! I drove through Dairy Queen and bought a Cotton Candy Blizzard. They used to be my favorite thing EVER and as I took my first bite I realized how many calories I was eating and how much of a waste it was. I threw it away immediatly, after only one bite! So I lost out of 4 dollars, I was able to eat a good dinner and NOT go over calories!!
  • That's awesome! Great job!

Non-Scale Victory... a way to know that you're doing well that isn't related to seeing the numbers go down on the scale. :)

NSV = non-scale victory. I didn't know what it was at first either, so I googled it.

That's awesome! It took A LOT for me to start throwing away food (I don't like being wasteful) BUT I have to share what I've discovered to be a great way for me to beat the frap craving and still "indulge." Probably 2 times a month I order a tall, extra coffee caramel light with a shot of espresso blended in. Adds up to about 75 calories as long as you don't have whipped cream or caramel drizzle. Sometimes I even have them add extra ice which lowers it further. You still get the frozen yummy treat without excessive calories.

Same goes for a mocha light frap--add shot of espresso, extra coffee--brings it down from 100-110 to about 90 calories (which burns off in a mile walk).

Sure adds to a desire to do well the rest of the day. You know what I mean? Like I don't want to feel like I cancel it out by making poor choices for dinner later.

    Appreciate all the support.

I think that's awesome! I found some snacks in the bottom of my drawer at work and threw them out this morning. My father apologized the other day for always making us clear our plates.
