Hey!

I had a question about losing water weight. Does drinking more water help lose significant weight at all?

Unlikely. Adding weight in the form of water drunk is offset when the water goes down the toilet

No, but drinking more water may keep you from overeating, and you'd lose weight from that.

Limiting your sodium intake will help you lose water weight. Salt is a big water retainer for me.

Wait - based on the other replies, I think there might be some confusion about your post.

No, drinking more water won't help you lose fat.

But if you're talking about losing water weight, which is just excess water retained in your system due to physical labor, too much sodium or alcohol, or hormones, then yes. Drinking a lot of water will help you shed water weight. (Keep in mind, shedding a couple of pounds out can still take more than a week, so be patient.)

    yes, SOMETIMES.

it depends on what's causing excess water. too much sodium? it'll help flush it out. hormones? not in my experience but everyone's different. other stuff probably depends on person too.

excuse the icky info, but drinking tons of water also helps keep your bowels adequately full of water to flush out waste, which can cause heaviness, bloated feeling, and extra pounds if it's not being cleared frequently and thoroughly. sometimes *kitten* builds up, frankly.
