I am so blessed to have found this group...
I don't know where else to look for the support, Stuck between contradicting and confusing information... @_@....One thing I can say about losing weight and a weight loss journey in general..It's one HECK of a emotional battle.. Since I started back in Jan.. I lost 25lbs.. I haven't weighed myself recently due to the awful fear of numbers changing and I feel like any of this is just to good to be true to last... I have no idea what's wrong with my confidence...

Being 24 years old...5'6 and 297lbs (starting weight) and constantly hearing me bring myself down as well as others.. It was time for a change.. So I got on that Wii, turning on my Michael Jackson dance game and went to town.. The game was so fun.. I was working out 1..to 2 hours a day almost and wasn't even paying attention that was..... was well.." Working out..." Now I'm 25lbs lighter and I do have to say that I don't feel that motivation that I felt anymore....But I'm continuing to keep going... The other day.. I was doing Zumba on my Xbox...and in the middle of the workout.. I broke out into tears.... To this day...I don't know WHY I did it... I have no idea why...

I have so many upsets about weight loss.. Being that my arms are huge.. I have that large amount of flab... I keep having the constantly fear that my arms won't pull back.. and I'm gonna have sagging skin... They tell me with my age that I shouldn't worry about that.. But.. I feel differently...I don't go to a gym.. I use majority of my workout time at home and use my 5lb dumbbells... but I feel like that it won't help me neither...

I just hope to scan through some help and inspiration... cause I'm not sure on what to do.... what to do.... So many people tell me not to do this and that..and other people tell me TO do this and that... so that leaves me in the middle of doing...." nothing."

Aww. Well the thing is you ARE doing it! Just by taking any little step is a step closer to a goal. Don't worry about how long it takes, just one step at a time in the right direction. Be proud of yourself, 25 pounds is a lot!!! So I totally think you can do this.

Find little ways to motivate yourself...smaller goals are easier to obtain, and they don't have to be related to weight loss. I actually found that just focusing on smaller goals can be easier! Like working out 4 times a week or whatever it is... adding walking to your day or whatever you really enjoy.

Good luck and I know you can do this. We all got your back!

You need to find the exercise that YOU want to do and keep working at it. It sounds like you've done the first part so actually getting it done is where you need to go next.

The way I keep myself working hard is simple - I plan my workouts into my week. My routine is that on Monday, Wednesday and Friday when I get home from work I exercise. Straight away. No sitting on the sofa. No making a cup of tea and relaxing for 20 minutes first. Get home...exercise.

I found when I could see that my diet was right calorie-wise and I was exercising regularly my self-confidence grew. That self confidence then made it easier for me to keep at it. It's a virtuous cycle. Do it right, feel great, do it better.

You can do it, and your friends on MFP will help. :flowerforyou:

Daily motivation is not easy, especially when you don't see the changes you wish for right away. If it was magic, it would be so much easier. If you have several mini-milestones to help you along the way, I find that keeps me more motivated. My biggest goal is to be 70 lbs. lighter by next fall when I go to Italy, I mean who wants to lug around 70 extra pounds, right? Most days feel like a struggle as far as staying motivated to make wise choices with food, and to make sure I get in my excercise, but I just have faith that it will come off, and I will be a healthier, happier person. Have confidence in yourself, and be very proud of what you have accomplished so far, I am proud of you!!! It's taken hard work to do what you have done, and if you fall off the wagon, it's ok, jump back on, there's plenty of room! :)

Girl just keep moving. Like the previous post said set small goals. Try to get in 30 mins of walking everyday. Get a pedometer & try to dore more steps each day. don't let what other people say discourage you from doing what you feel you need to do. Sometimes the people you would think would be the best supporters are the #1 haters. Just keep moving. Great job on your weight loss so far :flowerforyou:

How about you just find what you enjoy doing and do THAT!! You had to have felt some gratification with losing that 1st 25 pounds. Go on that and keep it going whether you feel like it or not. Sometimes just going through the motions will get you through the slump. Ask youself what feels better: being overweight or reaping the rewards of good old fashioned hard work? Lay down the excuses and do the best you can. This journey sucks, I know. Not being happy with yourself sucks, I know. Just do what you know works...if that stops working, do something else - just keep going. You can do it! REALLY you can!!! :o)

First of all, great job on loosing 25 lbs...you are doing way better than me. Remember, you may not think that you are doing anything but to someone being an outsider looking in, you are. Girl please believe me when I say I feel the same exact way. I hate looking at myself in the mirror...I hate for my husband to even touch me, but at least you've done something...I haven't lost any weight...I started my fitness pal and I lost maybe 10 lbs....that was 2 months ago...I got lazy and discouraged after while and guess what? I gained that 10 lbs right back. To me that's the worst feeling...and now I'm having to start all over...but I'm ok with that...I know that in order to get something I never had, I have to do something I've never done....I will request you as a friend and hopefully we can keep each other encouraged.

Aw I can understand your feeling all to well. I did that all my life. Make excuses. Last year before I turned 50 I went to Dr for physical and she said if I keep going the way I was I was going to be diabetic and on heart and cholesterol drugs. At that time I wasn't taking any.

That is what gave me the first motivation. I started changing how I ate and really wasn't exercising much. A year later I lost 10 lbs BUT the biggest difference was inside. My cholesterol level went down my good cholesterol went up and no longer pre-diabetic.

This year just before I went back to Dr I found this site and I already lost what I lost last year. Sometimes I get bummed that I am not losing as fast as others but when I remember how I am doing already better this year I'm ok.

You are young and your skin will "shrink" along with you. Hang in there and remember...........

    YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

Welcome to this site. You came to the right place. You will find the inspiration, motivation you need, as well opinions and info about many weight loss strategies. The thing to keep in mind is- Every body reacts to things differently. What works for one will not work for another. You need to work at it and see what works for you. When you see the results (like losing 25lbs) you should keep doing what you are doing.

Best wishes and stick with it. You can do it. If you want you can friend me.

Hey! Reading your post. Gosh sounds like me. I have the days were i try to get up and do the dvds or the wii. And i just dont and then by the end of the day i get "depressed" about it. Reading everyone elses great burns and losses is sort of my motivation.

If i dont do the dvd or wii i just go for a walk or jog ( well jog the best i can) and clear my mind. We are our own worst critics i fear the scale. But to my avail when i feel fat or feel like ive gained i get on the scale and i see a loss it may have only been 4 ounces or a lb but a loss is a loss. I notice more and more lately that my lbs are slowing but the inches are still decreasing.

I wish i knew what to say but just know you are not the only one.. If you ever need to vent email me.. Or feel free to add me...

Your are doing what you need to do just by getting up and working out. You don't need to go to a gym, you can get all you need at home. Five pounds is just fine, you aren't trying to be a body builder. Don't worry about the flab, you are young and losing your weight gradually, this allows your skin to recover. You will find lots of info and great support on this site. Good luck!

But like you guys said all of those excuses should be put in the farthest part of my mind and just do it! I will be adding you guys and once again I appreciate the help and the support..I plan on doing a 45min Zumba class.. I just did 30mins of dancing... Once again. I appreciate it so so much! - Starla

You'll find a lot of other people here you know just what you're talking about. The hardest part of losing weight for me has always been the emotional struggle too. Remember that you are precious as a human being already - therefore you can find ways to take care of yourself, including a healthy eating pattern.

I don't want to add to the barrage of nutrition advice out there, but I'll pass on what my doctor told me because it's worked well for me so far. "Moderation in everything, eat your veggies, and don't worry about fad diets. You'll be fine." She's right - as long as I get all my veggies and fruits in a day, it's so much easier to eat all the other things in reasonable portions and not binge. And just ignore whatever the latest fad or scare is. It'll be over before you know it.

    Welcome to MFP!
