Lost 2 pounds in a day??

yesterday I went to the Dr's and restrained myself from drinking to see if their electric scale was accurate as mine and it read the same thing. This morning I was wanting to see how much my weight fluctuates and I went from 151 to 149 (both no water weight) I want to enter in my weight but I only want to do it every Sunday. I barely did anything. I swam and walked and didn't eat as much but I at least hit 1000 cals. My goal is to lose weight at a pace of 2 pounds per week but in a day. I met my first goal: losing 15 and getting to 149. I know once I drink this water, I'll go up but I just want to know my weight without water. And how accurate are BMI scales or should I see a sports medicine doctor about that?

Your body has natural daily fluctuations of upwards of 5 pounds. You need to stop focusing on day-to-day weight and instead focus on overall weight trends. You also need to drink water normally.

I weigh myself each morning and I often see swings of 1-5 pounds, up or down, from the previous day's weight. I just log my daily weight in Libra (which calculates the trend) and go by that. I don't pay much attention to each day's fluctuation.

I lost one pound last night and gained 3 overnight.

    Weight fluctuates constantly.

    Weight loss isn't linear.

Water weight. Tomorrow you could be a pound and a half higher, and the next day drop only half a pound. It's best to watch the trend rather than focus on day-to-day weights.

I think you're misunderstanding water weight. When you don't drink enough water, your body holds onto whatever is left, creating that bloated, water weight. So when you start drinking again, your body will then release that water weight.

Came here to say this. NOT drinking could actually cause you to retain more water. The best thing to do to get rid of water weight is to actually drink more. A bit counter-intuitive, I know.

ETA: I hadn't lost a pound in about two weeks and have now lost 2 lbs in about a day and a half. The body is weird like that.

So far I've just been losing weight . I drink lots of water. I eat a balanced diet and I only account weightloss on Sunday mornings. I think I'm doing good. I've had no struggle surprisingly *knock on wood* I think it's bc I've got youth on my side. But I also am having blood problems

Good! But you asked how to determine your true weight without the issue of water weight. The answer to that is: drink more water so you don't retain it!! Also, if you weigh yourself consistently (same time of day) every day for a week or so, you can take the average number and that is likely your current weight.

Mine varies a lot usually when I have a large loss I gain about half of it back the next day. But it depends.

Stop weighing yourself every day. Just do it once a week. Follow the trends. Drink water! :)

    Wow

    Second nutty thread

Weight loss is over time ...6-8 weeks ...not daily which consistently fluctuates

Look this is my last 3 months of maintenance and I know how to log accurately after over a year ...black dots are scale weight ..up and down, up and down

I don't weigh myself every day! I was just curious bc every time I weighed myself I havnt gained weight, I always lossed. I only log in my weight once a week, only Sunday mornings and I havnt been depressed or had binging problems or severe cravings or even cheat days. For the past 2 months, I havnt cheated until 4th of July. I ate tons of fruit and 2 small pieces of sheet cake like 2.5'x2.5 but I still stayed under my deficit. And I'm happy, is happiness all that should matter? Congratulations btw on the 40 lb weightloss, that's a lot

We have a weight range that trends up and down or is stable, we don't really have a single weight, other than at the particular instant we weigh ourselves.

And since @rabbitjb didn't state it out loud, she is using www.trendweight.com (if you don't have one of the supported scales you can use a free fitbit.com account to enter your weight).

You can also use www.weightgrapher.com. or happy scale on the iphone.

In particular for women www.weightgrapher.com allows you to superimpose your previous 28 day (user adjustable) cycle since that often makes your weight vary.
