I find it easier to go by the serving size for such things if you dont already. If you do, cut it down. This way youll get the sweets and satisfy your mental desire rather than eating u0

This ^^^....you can also use that method to ween yourself off from eating those sorts of things if you really want to.0 -
My suggestion is get a blender and start making protein shakes and fruit smoothies. Since I got one I was able to reduce my calories I intake because the smoothies make me full. I'm not bingeing. Good luck.0

You just have to stop. It's really hard but it does get easier the longer you go without and the more you say no. I drink herbal tea to curb cravings and to have something in my hands. Try to find healthier and portion controlled alternatives - e.g. airpopped popcorn instead of chips, a bit of dark chocolate instead of icecream etc.0

It's a question of psychological training. You like ice cream and bad food because you have trained your brain to like it. So when you want something nice to eat you can't think about anything else. It comes naturally to you.
You have to retrain your brain to like better stuff. This will be hard at first. When you want a treat you have to eat a different foodstuff, something healthy. After a while you won't want crap food because you will have trained your brain to like better food and you will enjoy the better food. I don't think it's a question of weaning yourself off - it's pretty much cold turkey. Also remember that sugary food makes you more hungry, so the more of it you eat, the more eating it leads to. Stick to wholegrain snacks or those with good fats. When I want a snack I generally go for 200/300cals of peanuts - the fat fills me up enough till I get to the next meal.0 -
It's all about willpower. There is no special remedy that will make you not want to eat sweets. I crave sugar quite often, and when I do i'll eat half a candy bar, or half a bowl of ice cream, and i'll let it go at that. If you have the willpower and want to be healthier you will cut the 'crap' down. I would never say to cut it out, because honestly if you like the stuff, cutting it out will lead to an all out binge. Just eat it in moderation, fit it into your calories, and then you can't feel bad about it.0

Its not all about willpower. I started my quit sweets program at the beginning of 2014 and i'm still doing it. I stopped having cravings almost immediately. The only time i want to eat sweet things is when i have a mood issue or lots of stress. I have tested my strategy in a variety of ways over the course of 1.5 years and i'm still doing it. It works.
HEre's my basic plan. But you might want to work out your own version.
1. Decide to quit sweets. Do it when you are ready. NOt necessarily right now. The moment will come if you know inside that its the right thing to do. It can take some period of time mentally adjusting to the idea even after you've begun.
2. Only eat sweets when they are offered to you. Only have one serve. Never buy or make sweets for yourself - in ordinary day to day basis.
3. Ideally on average, you don't want to be eating sweets more than once a month but this system relies on you not making the decision when to have sweets. You can say no thanks any time but you can't say, 'give me some now please. I do not advocate rationing yourself to sweets once a month because that plays with your mind. You need to not have sweets on your mind. You need to learn how to be happy without sweets.
4. Moderation doesn't work for everyone. If you know it doesn't work for you then try this approach.
5. Replace all your sweet foods with fruit. Enjoy fruit. Eat as much as you need. But also eat vegeatbles and other healthy food.
6. Dried fruit can be bingey so these are not "free foods". You need ot ration yourself with them. I choose those lucious dates, dried figs, prunes and things like that because they feel quite luxurious to eat and i can be satisfied iwth a small amount excpet when i'm having mood or stress issues. But its easier to bounce back from a binge on these than the usual sweets.
7. Do not use artificial sweeteners of any kind because you need to train yourself to enjoy a diet that is less sweet. This is also why honey is off the menu.
8. All that said, I use sugar or honey in savoury dishes to balance the flavour when its necessary. If i were to cook spaghetti bolognese for instance, i'd put in some sugar. But it doesn't take much. So the idea is not to be fanatical about it but to have clear and strict rules that you never break. If I were to go out and buy an block of chocolate tonight that would be the end of it for me. Just like if i went out and bought a bpacket of cigarettes, i'd be a smoker again.
9. I have some outclauses but they are special circumstances and took me some time to work out. Whatever your outclauses are they must work to ensure that you don't break your commitment to your basic rule of no sweets on a daily basis.
10. I spent the first few months doing a lot of mental work, building my commitment and strategies and after that its just be totally easy. It was easy at first too in that i didn't need willpower but neverthless i did a lot of mental work. ITs hard to describe succinctly.
11. Avoid temptation and tempting situations - eg like getting drunk. Don't walk down sweet aisles in the supermarket. Don't watch tv with advertising lots of takeway food. Not until you are strong in your plans anyway.
12. Focus on developing a healthy diet, cooking up good food, loving healthy nutritious food.
13. Ensure the food you eat on a daily basis is enjoyable.
14. Avoid getting hungry.0 -
