So you feel my pain. Mine also brews. I gave up all beer just for now until I get down to my weight. Then it's all ok again.
I am a super hop head, however. I like citrus in my beer so I go for Russian River 's Pliny ( both the elder and the younger).
My husband clones it and it is excellent.
I also like fresh hopped and dry hopped beer.
Sigh, I haven't had. Beer in 3 months.:(
BUT, I have lost about 20 lbs, so whTever.I am totally with you on the beer snob front. My husband brews delicious varieties (incredible IPAs, Coffee Porters, Oatmeal stouts...wow!) and I just can't do the ultra's or 55's. The closest I get is Sam Light. I dig Irish Stouts, so I'll drink a Murphy or Guiness since they are (relatively) low in calories, I just limit how much I have.0 -
Sorry... I saw beer in the title and came running!!! hahahaha
I'm not a snob... I accept donations! hahahaha0 -
Fellow beer snob here as well. I was in a beer club at a local pub that has 40 draft taps and rotated the beers weekly. I love the Belgian ales! Part of the reason I gained 85 pounds lol.0

beer snob here. I like beer in the summer, cabernet in the winter.
Lite american-style beers are like diet sodas--why bother!0 -
I hob nob with snobs.
With a gob of snobs? Or more like a mob?0 -
I am a beer snob as well. I prefer wine but when I have beer I want the good stuff. We have so many breweries here that it is just not working low carb or cheap beer.
I miss pizza, i treat myself to a slice occassionally but have to have salad with it so I don't over induldge, and sweets.0 -

I had to make a bargain with myself. I wasn't okay with cutting wine & beer out of my lifestyle, so I just drink less of it in order to make it work.
This isn't a diet folks! You have to be able to eat the food you love for this to stick.0 -
Mmmmm beer. Give me almost anything by Stone and I'm a happy man.0

I'm a beer snob, but at only 28, I can't say I'm an expert yet. Some of my favorite brands include Samuel Adams Noble Pils, Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale, Hop Stoopid, and Southern Tier Unearthly. I like a lot of small-town hoppy ales if I ever run across them too, and I just got started brewing my own (starting with a simple pale ale). In most cases, I'd rather try something new that looks like it would be interesting before I reach for an old standby. This is why, for example, I just HAD to try malt liquor, Steel Reserve, and PBR just once. ;-)
What's been said here is very, very true. Our Biggest Loser competition at work did more harm for me than good. I lost about 30 pounds in the months leading up to the competition, but I burnt myself out after a few weeks into it, and I fell pretty hard off the wagon. I can't deny myself 100% of the things I like. Moderation is a big key to success... at least for me. A lifestyle change needs to be sustainable.0
