Hello-any input on why no matter what I do or eat or drink I am bloated? I have been tracking it in my calendar for a while now + I have been to the doctor for blood work and they found nothing wrong. I am a vegetarian and only do a little dairy. I have not been tracking my calories very consistently, but just the bloating. What is causing that??? I am not expecting a medical diagnosis, just maybe ideas, things to investigate. I have googled and read and I cannot figure out why I am so bloated all the time.
thanks-
dana

Check your sodium intake. I personally do better staying under the recommended amount of 2,300mg per day or I have noticeable water retention (like my ring will not slide easily off my finger like normal). Make sure you're getting enough water to help flush excess sodium out, and eat foods that are rich in potassium as well.

I'm following to see what others say. I get really bad bloat. My clothes feel snug, my waist measurement goes up. This time it's been around for a whole week. I usually just assume it's my high salt intake but I'm interested to hear what others say.

Impending TOM is also a usual suspect for me. And when my body goes to town on bloating it has no intentions of letting go, so the day or two before my cycle and into a few days after it's done and over with I'm still all puffy. Same when I have a sodium bender. Buffalo Wild Wings tonight will be causing drama with my shorts buttoning well into next week.

If this is an on-going thing and the doctor has no answers, I will guess salt. But I have no clue.

    What did the doctor say?

I sometimes get bloated from too many carbs, especially grain-based carbs, and from too much candy.

    I would, in order

    Keep adequately rehydrated

Analyse over a couple of months
    Food diary vs bloating
    Ovulation and periods vs bloating

Look at common bloating causes first: grains, cruciferous vegetables etc

    Check your sodium intake

    Try an elimination diet

It's veg and salt that give me a pot belly. I'm not willing to give either up though so I just have to put up with it.

Okay this seems to be the same for me. I DO eat a high volume of vegetables along with a stupid amount of salt. I can't decide if it's worth cutting down. If not for vanity, perhaps for a little more comfort/being able to button jeans properly.

I have that same problem. I notice the only thing that helps me is "Nature's Secret"15 day cleanse and flush. It stimulate digestion helps get a flatter stomach and reduces bloating. You can buy it at Vitamin Shoppe for $9.99 or GNC for $19.99. You take it 2x a day for 15 days then stop for 30 days if you want to do it again. I did it about 3 months ago and will start it again today. Good luck with everything. :)

Ignore this, OP. You don't need anything to "cleanse" or "flush" your system besides your own organs. Try @rabbitjb 's original suggestion.

I starting taking BCAA and L-glutamine for muscle recovery and they incidentally also seemed to clear up my constant bloat. I did some googling and found that L-glutamine has been used to treat IBS.

thanks for all the input--lots of things to look into. I do know there is nothing diagnosable or medical causing it--had all the blood work two weeks ago. watching sodium is a good suggestion + I eat lots of broccoli and cauliflower. one suggestions was the elimination diet--great idea. I have no intention of doing a cleanse or flush or anything like that--I know better-more water and exercise and keeping track of bloating + what I'm eating seems to be the reasonable way to go.
    thanks!
