one vegetarian meal a day?

So I have plateaued with my weight loss and I'm trying to get creative with my meals to help lose weight.

Today, I started eating one vegetarian meal a day. Will this help? I'd like to hear from other people who do this and have input on the matter.

And no, I won't go full vegetarian or vegan. I eat meat and have no plans to stop.

    I don't see how 1 vegetarian meal will make you lose weight if you've plateaued. Eating vegetarian wont make you lose weight, nor will eating vegan. Weight loss comes from a caloric deficit.
    • Are you using an electric food scale?
    • Are you weighing your foods accurately? i.e. using grams instead of cups
    • How are you obtaining your calorie burns? MFP, HRM or machines?

    WHAT you are eating is irrelevant. How much you are eating is what you need to look at. Are you using a food scale?

    Only if it fits into your calorie goal for the day. Vegans have weight problems too. Weight loss only happens when you're in a deficit.

    Buy an electric food scale, weigh your food.

    10$ at Walmart. Invest in one, as this is where your problem is. The closer you are to goal, the more accurate this needs to be.

    I think it's odd (I'm not picking on you personally, I know this is a common mindset) how a meal without meat automatically becomes marked as a "vegetarian" meal. As if meat at every single meal were just the norm, the base requirement of being called a "meal."

    I typically only eat meat once a day and sometimes go a couple days without eating meat at all. But I'm not a vegetarian, nor do I become one just because I had a salad for lunch rather than a steak.

    Meat consumption is so closely tied to national and personal wealth. It's a status symbol. But it's also a grossly inefficient way of feeding the Earth. That's a good argument for thinking about cutting out *some* meat, if even just one meal a day.

    As others have said, what you eat isn't dreadfully important relative to how much you eat.

    Oreos are vegetarian. If the meal is a bag of Oreos, it won't help. If it's a bunch of veggies, it might. A lot depends on the rest of your diet and how much exercise you get.

    A vegetarian meal is literally just anything without meat or fats from an animal. I can eat pizza, where it is over 300 calories a slice, and call that a vegetarian meal.

    I can go and have a platter of meatless nachos, and a side of jalepeno poppers and mozzarella sticks, and eat a huge piece of cherry cheesecake, and have that be a vegetarian meal. Just saying!

    To lose weight , you need a calorie deficit.
    To make sure that you are eating at a deficit, you'll need a food scale. Weigh everything you consume , log it accurate here on mfp.

    I could eat 3 vegetarian meals a day and still gain weight . surplus - weight gain.
    So eating vegetarian won't help you lose weight.
    Its going to come down to cico.

    I am one of those "meat with every meal" people. Not sure what your diary looks like, but meat is usually one of my lower cal foods...
