MFP and Fitbit

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I can't find it anywhere. I have a Fitbit zip linked to MFP. Am I suppose to add my excercise even though the Fitbit is keeping track of my steps? It just doesn't seem like the Fitbit is giving me any real credit for working out. It only gave me 87 step points even though I've made over 8k steps.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have the One and though it tracks my steps, when I add my walking, I hey even more extra calories. This can't be right. Gonna search more. Will let you know if I find an answer.0

You can set your MFP to "sedentary" and then let FitBit import your steps. Add any non-step exercise to the FB site and let it port over.0

First have you set yourself to sedentary and enabled negative calorie adjustments? This should be done. Yes you add your non step like activities to your fitbit and it will adjust accordingly.0

Don't add any step based activities, such as walking and running. Fitbit handles that for you. Any other exercise you have to manually add.
@allsoapedup what do you have your activity level set at on mfp?
Do you have negative adjustments enabled?0 -
Also, you'll get more detailed help on mfp's fitbit group. The answers to every fitbit question can be found there

No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit (that's what I do) or in MFP—never both.allsoapedup wrote: »It just doesn't seem like the Fitbit is giving me any real credit for working out. Click on the adjustment in your diary to see the math MFP used to calculate it. You've burned 87 calories more than your MFP activity level.
You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users0 -
It all depends on what you set as your activity level on MFP. MFP takes your stated activity level, and you add in exercise. Fitbit counts it all - daily activity & exercise combined. If your actual calorie burn according to Fitbit is more than what MFP expected you to burn, you earn extra calories.
