Hello everyone. I find I'm having trouble staying motivated in working out. My workout gets kind of boring as I do generally the same thing each time. Any ideas on how to stay motivated, I find myself struggling with the self-esteem part of it the most.

I switch my workouts up all the time because for me working out also needs to be a lifestyle change. I have trouble maintaining, and moving more gives me a little wiggle room. I use DVDs and the internet (YouTube, Hulu.com, Jessica Smith TV)

You might make a point to try something new every week. You will find some duds, but also some new things you like. Check your local library for DVDs.

A well rounded fitness regimen will include strength, cardio, and flexibility.

Since I have no idea what you like, here are a couple websites to help you find videos

    collagevideo.com

    totalfitnessdvds.com

These include video clips and reviews that tell you the impact level, choreography level, what equipment (if any) is required, etc.

Fitness Blender is my favorite--they have hundreds of workouts, all free, for every fitness level--check them out. I've loved every one I've done (well, I mean, I was cursing at them DURING the workout--but afterwards I felt amazing) :)

Motivation comes from within. If you're using someone else's motivation, it's not personal and you'll get discouraged. Figure out why YOU want to lose weight and exercise, and make that your motivation. Once you find that, it becomes easier to stick with it.

As for mixing up workouts, do you use a gym or are you exercising at home? If you use a gym, try out all the machines. You might find you like others as well as what you're currently using and you can rotate them. If you're at home, there's TONS of videos of different exercises, a lot of them online for free. Run a search on Youtube and see what comes up. If nothing else, get an mp3 player and listen to music or get some audio books. I usually only walk for my exercise, but I've got the Zombies, Run app which keeps my mind occupied. If not that, I listen to music. If I'm listening to something, I find I last longer and I don't get bored.

If nothing else, go find an arcade or Dave and Busters or something that has a Dance Dance Revolution machine. Part of the reason I'm trying to get my asthma under control is that I love DDR and I want to do it again! XD

Cliche as it sounds (I hate hearing this myself, tbh), find something you enjoy.

Hopefully, you're not like me, who hates exercise in any form. Because if you are, you're gonna be telling yourself to just suck it up and do it :D .

there are so many options out there, it's hard to say
I would say youtube would help you decide what you might like. then you can focus on that.

Be willing to adapt. If you stop enjoying something, eventually you'll stop doing it (unless it's a matter of life and death I guess). Shift gears and set new goals to try and reach.

In addition to sll the great ideas ready mentioned, consider joining a class and/or work with a personal trainer. A trainer can teach you lots of new exercises , help develop a program for home workouts, help keep u focused, etc.
