Hello from France...

Hi, I am an American woman living in France with my husband and 14 year old cat. I have been a member of MFP since 2012 but have not been consistent with keeping on track...However I am here today and very motivated to make this work and shed more weight and being diligent daily from now on. My highest weight was 229 to be exact. I am at 201.6 today and hope to weigh 179 by Christmas. I am following Dr. Mark Hyman's 10 Day Detox Diet, but mainly staying away from dairy, sugar and wheat. When I do, I feel and think much better. I would love an accountabilibuddy and to be one as well...learning as I am supported and as I support. Very happy to be here!

Hi Shiloh, Thanks so much and i hope you get to France soon. It's beautiful here and the food is fresh and tastey...unfortunately...but fortunately! Thanks for asking me to be friends. I'll do that.0

How did y'all meet ? Do you have dual citizenship ?0

Where in France are you? I did a French degree (I'm English) and spent a year at uni in Avignon. I've been to France millions of time lol. I'm a French teacher at secondary school. I'll be taking some of the kids I teach to Paris next March.
I love French food, and I don't think there's anything wrong with eating what you enjoy so long as you eat it in moderation. I lost weight when I lived in France, and I worked as an au pair for the Summer after I finished my academic year, and the family I lived with ate really healthily.0 -
Hi! I am French but living in Norway. I visit home every year, and I must admit that I usually eat lots during those visits, as French food is so much tastier than blend Norwegian food! I definitely have a sweet tooth, so I am happy we don't have bakeries everywhere here....0

Hi, we met in Florida when i was starting to look into the church I eventually joined...But, I'm not here to talk about that. No, we do not have dual citizenship but my husband and sons speak French quite fluently. It is harder for me! I speak Ukrainian...learned it as a child growing up since both my parents are from the Ukraine.
How are you finding MFP? I am very excited to get going on it again...This time I am on the Forums and looking for support and to support others.
Thank you for your interest.0 -

Hi Dawnie,
We are just 10 minutes from Geneva, Switzerland in the Rhone Alps Region, by the Jura mountains. It is gorgeous here...just hot right now and as you know...most Europeans do not have a/c. Lot's of fans going and when it gets really bad, we do have an a/c portable unit that we set up in our living room. The hot weather helps me to sweat...TMI, probably...
I taught English to Swiss kids for a number of years and loved it! I don't speak French fluently and don't know if i ever will since many here speak English. I know key words but am ever learning. Hats off to you on your French degree!
Yes, French food is incredible! Even the vegetables have so much more taste. At this point, i am not a moderate person, but i see that MFP will help me with that. I just went to a Family Reunion and gained 11 pounds but have lost 6 already. Hope you are having success with MFP. How are you doing?
Have an excellent day and I invite you to friend me if you would like.0 -

Hello! I have never been to Norway. France is definetely wonderful in every way. I'm sue you miss it. Just heard fireworks for Bastille Day the other night. Our little village has a bakery but I am strong and do not visit it unless we have family guests visting us...then my husband goes every day and brings something home for ALL of us for breakfast. Sweet tooth was my middle name but now it is "abstinance". LOL!
Best to you and please friend me if you would like.0 -
Hope we can all be friends! Have a beautiful, successful day to you all!0

Welcome to your new self! Now that you have reached a point where you are motivated, do NOT give up. You can achieve all of your goals as long as you stick with it. Don't let a bad day bring you down. You've got this!

I've been to Geneva, and one year we stayed in the Alps, near Les Gets, so not too far away.
I was actually pretty much at goal weight after my second child, but then decided to have a third lol. She's now 14 months and I've got a little bit left to lose.
Of course you can add me.0 -

Hi Greatful4Grace! Thank you for writing! I'm not sure how to address people on forums as I've never really done that before so please let me know how you'd like me to address you here. Welcome back and let's keep going! I will look up your profile. DawnieB1977 just told me how to do that and how to friend. I am struggling at the moment to not eat what ever right now even though I am not hungry. I did have some potato chips, 1 cup, about and hour after lunch...never measured those before but did and now find that I REALLY want more chips or anything really even healthy. Ugh! My husband is cooking dinner for us right now. Hurray! Are you from the U.S.A? Have a wonderful Saturday and weekend!0
