I cut out all bad things, and only drink green tea unsweetened, water. And eat salads. My calorie intake is around 700, I've been doing this for a month and still I'm not losing my belly fat, and barely any pounds. I'm 185, 5'9. And some days my calorie intake is under 500, when I spend hours at the gym, I usually burn 300+ calories . am I doing something wrong

See a professional before you do some serious damage to your body by undereating.0

Yeah, you're doing almost everything wrong. You don't need to eat that little, where did you get that idea? You also don't need to "cut out everything bad" that's not gonna workout in the long run.
You need to have patience and diligence. The fat will come off eventually.0 -
I thought the less calories the better...0
-
First of all, it's not about what you eat, it's how much. Secondly, we lose weight from all over our bodies at once, we can't just lose belly/thigh/butt/wherever fat. Have you been losing weight at all?
If you're trying to net below 700 calories, thats not good. However, if you're not losing weight, then you're either eating more than you think or overestimating your calorie burns through exercise.
Buy a scale and start weighing everything you eat, to start. And try to stay above 1200 calories net. Eat back half your exercise calories.0 -
So, basically, you put your stats into MFP, they gave you a caloric goal you should meet every day......and you chose to ignore it and do your own thing.
I agree with malibu....please seek professional help.0 -

Not when it comes down to basically starving yourself. You're putting your body at risk for some severe health problems (muscle loss, hair loss, loss of period, organ malfunctions) by eating so little.0 -
I'm losing some weight but I don't see it...just on a scale...0

You've only been at it for an month. How much did you lose on the scale? Are you weighing yourself every day at the same time under the same conditions?0

Well then you are losing weight, but probably also damaging your body by eating so little. How many calories did mfp recommend you eat?0 -

This statement frightens me. I really do think you need to speak to a professional about this.

I mean I can go for that I just figured less wouldnt hurt . um I lost 7? But I don't see it , I weigh myself every three days on the scale at the gym0

You need to eat that and not less than that. I second everyone who has said seek professional help.0 -

Less can definitely hurt. Keep your calories at the goal MFP gave you and eat back half or more of the calories you get from exercise.0 -

Slow and steady is the mindset that brings results.0 -

Recommended based on a plan to lose how many pounds per week? Two?
Nothing you are doing according to your first post is remotely healthy ... it is a disordered approach. Seek help immediately.

I'm just trying to lose weigh fast...I go to the gym five days a week...I can eat more so I reach my 1200 goal. I chose the 2 a week option0

That's because you're jeopardizing your lean body mass at such a large deficit. There's no "starvation mode" but your body isn't able to metabolize your fat stores fat fast enough to sustain you. You can risk organ damage and serious illness doing this.0 -
So you chose the most aggressive option MFP provides although you don't have that much to lose according to your ticker ... then ate only half of the amount recommended ... then claimed a burn of 300 calories on top of that meaning you net about 300 calories per day? That is extremely unhealthy.

Arent you interested in losing weight in a safe healthy manner? Arent you interested in losing weight with a better chance of keeping it off becayse you understand whats involved? You seem to be doing everything possible to make it an unhealthy approach. You do realise your body needs nutrition to function properly?
You are just straving your way there. Its not good. You need to eat more abd look after your body.0 -

That's the recipe for skinny-fat, arguably the least desirable body composition you can get.0 -

You didn't put it on fast, so it's not going to come off fast.

So, fast, but not healthy.
According to your ticker you've only got 20 lbs to lose. Is that accurate?
What's your hurry?

You are losing weight, which you see on the scale. You won't always notice it right away. Did you take a before photograph? If not, do one now. Then increase your calorie intake to the MFP recommendation (maybe even update to 1 lb/week loss) and watch your micronutrients to ensure you are getting enough vitamins and such (you probably are not with such little food).
Then, carry on and have patience. Take another progress photo in 2-3 months and compare to your photograph from today.0 -
I chose the 20 as a first goal, I don't set huge goals, I meet little goals ^^0

This! 7lbs in a month is a lot for someone who doesn't have much to lose anyway, you're dangerously close to starving yourself (in the actual sense of the word), you have totally unrealistic expectations and you seem to suffer from body dysmorphia. Please seek professional help.

Our posts overlapped. What's your goal weight?0 -

Is one of your goals to be healthy enough to see your child grow up? If so, change your path immediately.0 -
OK I will change up and meet my goal, maybe try the before picture, thanks for that advice . I don't have a problem keeping it healthy, but I'll try for the 1200 daily... Thank you guys for the advice! Sorry I'm new to weight loss plans...0

Seconding what's been said. You don't want "fast weight loss," you want to permanently change your eating habits and have a healthier life. 7 lbs in a month is a lot for most people (2 lbs/week is the maximum recommended for most people unless you have like 300+ lbs to lose) and your calorie intake is way too little.
Also:amybaby300 wrote: »I cut out all bad things
It's unhealthy to think of foods as "good" or "bad." Eating doesn't have a moral value to it; it's not good or evil. There are healthier choices and unhealthier choices depending on certain contexts (e.g. your body actually needs some fat, so eating a totally fat-free diet is actually not healthy). Portion size also matters.
You definitely want to seek therapy for help -- that's not a shameful thing, it's a way you can show kindness toward yourself. Trust me, disordered eating always seems like the "easiest" option (I'll lose weight so fast!) but it's actually the hardest way because the disordered thought patterns take over your life. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

Please listen to what they're telling you. What you're doing is extremely unhealthy. Losing weight slowly and steadily is always the better option. You are doing more harm than good eating so few calories.0
