To get back to the subject at hand, Barbie, I really do think you need to educate yourself regarding weightloss and if it is even right for you. This thread contains alot of answers to your questions and hopefully you will learn alot.
Please know that MFP is full of many opinions from different folks with different experiences so take them all with a grain of salt.
Although you are young, what you do and how you treat your body will catch up to you. As a former anorexic, I know from experience the harm you can do to your body at that age. You WILL regret it if you don't treat yourself wisely now.
Read through these and if you have any questions, let us veterans here know.:flowerforyou:
Good luck to you.

thank you so if i was to lose about 12 lbs instead then i would still be considered healthy?
ill give the weight training a go, and see how it is
:flowerforyou:
Toots, stop caring about losing pounds. You're already at a good weight. However, you'll look even hotter if you do some weights! That'll give you a svelter look. But for that, keep these things in mind:
- Muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less room. Translation: your weight might not change much, but you'll look tighter and stronger.
- "Bulking up" is a lie told to make you buy calisthenics tapes instead of going for weights. Most women just get nice and lean and toned when they do weights. We all knew an Olga on the volleyball team, but she's a special case.
- Rest. You may want to dive into the world of strength training, but don't go Viking on the weight room every day. Your body will need time to rebuild and become stronger.
- Eat more. You will be burning your body's resources. To achieve good results, you'll need to replenish them. Go for lean meats, lowfat dairy, whole grains, and lots of fruits and veggies. Plus, you shouldn't be eating 1000 cals a day. Your body has probably adapted to it, but it would run better with more fuel. Incorporate some nuts and other healthy yummies! Warning: you might pick up a couple of pounds at first, because your body will act like it's just come off of a famine. But these pounds melt off real quickly, and you'll find you have more energy and better metabolism.0 -
thanks for everyones advice i never thought 88lbs was all that skinny, i at lunch today for the first time in about a year, soo ill see how today goes

Wonderful!
Remember, don't have a heart attack if you gain a couple of pounds at first. It's just your body's way of keeping you braced for the next "famine." Your body is a wondrous thing, but its internal clock's off by a few thousand years. Any weight you gain won't be noticeable to anyone but the scale, and the scale's a treacherous b!tch.
Ok, I looked at the pictures you just uploaded. You have a very lovely body! You aren't fat at all! Just do strength training to firm up and tone up. You'll get a strong, sexier body. Limpid waifs only look good in romance novels and on catwalks.
Think about it: who's the chick in video games that guys have lusted over since their mommies bought them their first Playstation? Not wussy Princess Peach, Lara Croft Tomb Raider!0 -

I totally agree with what you are saying.
The wussy Princess Peach thing you wrote made me LOL.:laugh:0 -

Barbie, I am so glad you've decided to get healthier and not just skinny. Not just for now but for your long term health. I know when your young you don't really think much about what your body will be like at 30, 40 and beyond. But how you take care of it now will impact what kind of life you will have then.
And let me tell you it does not end when you leave your 20's. I am 49 and love life! So take care of your body, it's the only one your going to get and you want it to last so that when you are older you can still do things you enjoy!0 -
i ate lunch today, and dinner, and i had a snack in between, but im still only using up 835 kcal, i dont think i can eat anymore today, i also went for a jog earlier, because i thought i was going to go over my calorie allowance, but its just meant that i have extra calories to eat, this is all so confusing0

Well, it's a bit confusing because it goes against what you've been told all your life--that you get thinner by eating less. Au contraire, for many people, they need to eat more. Or rather, they were eating too much, then eating too little, and are now trying to achieve a balance. I fall into this category, but I'm working on it.
If you're well and truly full, you shouldn't stuff your face. However, if you want to bump up your calories, make a smoothie! They taste light, but you can beef 'em up with good calories by adding protein powder, milk, and yogurt. Avocados work well too. Or, when you feel a little less full, snack on a few nuts? They are calorically dense, but very healthy.
I still sometimes struggle with eating enough. I'm not anorexic at all, but I got very very good at trimming down the calorie counts in food. It's hard for me to break those habits.
My ultimate trick for days when I need a calorie boost: I keep a Larabar around and munch on it. They are the best bars for meal replacements (or heavy snacks) because they contain no junk at all--just chopped up fruits and nuts all smooshed together. They taste like hearty little cakes!
You're doing so well by getting healthier habits! Keep up the good work!0 -
